I'm with you on this one. I listen to The Edge about 75% of the time, but I was also a fan of the hair bands in the 80's. So it was one of those goofs that was fun for a weekend. Let's not lump fans of The Edge into one category. With Chuck and Vince in their mid 30's they are hitting that demographic that may have dabbled in the hair bands back in the day.
More importantly let's give it up to The Edge for taking a risk, even if it was a bad one. We complain about stations playing it safe with the same songs from their format. We want them to get outside the box and The Edge got way the heck out of the box on this one. Whether it was a good idea or not, they did do something that very few stations would even try by playing outside their format.
Oh and let's not forget The Edge regularly plays Johnny Cash, not exactly you're every day alt-rock act.
