Also WKDU is by far the best thing available on the dial, but these new community stations sound really promising if for nothing more than offering something markedly different

The scary part will be the funding, since most people don't want to pay for radio. Would that change if the station played what they want? We'll see.

Is this station actually affiliated with the real ststions thatvwete on air? I remember that jim mcguinn was program director at both stations i would imagine he isnt involved anymore

RD, my pal Andrew is a DJ at Y-Not Radio. He and others there play a bunch of different stuff. You should check them out if you haven't yet. Also, you can get around the online in the car thing if you have an aux jack in your car radio/dash and a phone with the TuneIn radio app.

Thanks, Charlie. I'll check out Y-Not Radio at home on my computer. My cell phone doesn't have Internet access. I have a Tracfone that I refill every 90 days for $20. It's one step above two tin cans and a string.

Jim McGuinn started y100rocks.com the day that Radio One took Y-100 WPLY off the air in 2004. He then moved it to XPN-HD2 in 2006 as Y-Rock on XPN. McGuinn moved to Minnesota Public Radio's 89.3 The Current in 2009. XPN killed off Y-Rock in 2010. The vein was continued online again as Y-Not Radio by longtime staffers Josh Landow and Joey O who have worked with the Y brand with McGuinn all the back through to when it was on 100.3.
