104.1 fm

What's going on at 104.1 fm in Seattle? On the way to church this morning we had KAFE on in the car until we got off I-5 at 80th street. The signal was as good as you could hope for from a Bellingham station until you got to the exit, then it sounded like another station was interfeering. Unless there is a translator for some station on 104.1 I don't know of any other stations on 104.1 in the state except for KXDD I believe it is in Yakima, and KFIS, which reaches well into Washington from Portland.

Was it oldies? If so, K281BM, repeating 1030 KMAS in Shelton (KOOL 104.1 and 1030).

Do you know if KMAS broadcasts talk late Sunday mornings? I couldn't tell what it was, I could just tell that there was another station there making KAFE come in very badly. Where is the translator located?

It could be KMAS--they are running a 250 watt translator on 104.1 see: http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=K281BM&service=FX&status=C&hours=U

I remember it used to be on 104.3 but that wiped KMNT (it was obliterated in Lakewood where I catch it quite a bit) and lasted probably 2 weeks or so.

That would make sense if KAFE got all the way down to Lakewood, but we're talking north Seattle, just south of Northgate Mall. What's weird is you don't notice it until you get off the freeway at 80th and start going east.
