104.1 Gets new calls

They'd have been better going back to WIOF if that was available.
What happened to WPHH? Was it transferred to another CC proberty perhaps? Maybe these calls were a random assignment.

Could be a good placeholder if they, for whatever reason, decided to flip back to Urban...

Oh, please. Urban is dying and this market obviously can't support 2 stations.

I heard it to on my way to Mohawk yesterday for the day. Be nice if they just did WMRQ again... I was waiting for it

WURH..
Urban... Rock... Hartford

104.1 known on the air as fm 104 one has new calls. They are WURH. What does WURH stand for? Shot in the dark. Does it stand for Ultimate Rock Hartford?

I always thought it stood for Power Hits Hartford. Did CC slap "P" calls on any of its other "Power"s?

Another call letter change for 104.1. How many call changes have they had?

Well the WURH calls are ok I guess don't go good with the station name FM 104 One. I could see if they called it Earth 104 or something with the RH. The WIOF calls would be a better fit. I agree with the other person who said that.

Ooh. thats good. they should request WIOF back and make it a classic country station.and it will knock out Country 92.5 new country crap off the air.But since 104.1
is bad luck for any format to last.it probably peter out in a couple of months.again this reminds me the dozen call and format changes that 1220 am went through.

How so? Connecticut was a dead market for country music until 1988. 92.5's been a consistent winner with contemporary, hit country for the 19 years since then. How is a station playing Charley Pride and Tammy Wynette supposed to get ratings or advertising dollars, let alone "knock that new country crap off the air"?

92.5 is doing good cause people like the new country music like Kelly Pickler, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Sugarland, etc...

Anyways is KISS 95.7 playing much rock now that 104.1 changed formats? Im also thinking 104.1 will take away some listeners from The River and 96.5 TIC.

Yea I got to agree. To get the younger demos to tune in to the young artists, not Roy Acuff, George and Tammy, Thats why I gave it a couple of months to peter out.I guess I stick with my Ipod for the classis country oldies until the HD radio go down on the prices.

Last I heard, Kiss 95.7 is sounding as God awful as ever.

I dont see 104.1 going classic country to compete with 92.5 which is its sister station. Not going to happen.

I would like to see 104.1 become RealRadio 104.1 and become a FM Talker much like 104.1 in Orlando.

I don't think many FM's want to be a talk format after the FREE-FM failure. The only talk on FM I see is News Radio stations moving from AM to FM.

Yeah I agree there. Oh I would like to see 104.1 become a FM Talker instead of WDRC rumoured here. But A full service FM sounds good to me,News,Sports,Weather on the hour, 24/7, 1:30 minute News brief on the half hour, Music of any format, Most likely top 40 ,but the young demos will get tired and get fed up with the news every 30 minutes,So It probably do better with the oldies format.late night syndicated shows, Like Coast to Coast or any other hot syndi shows.
Weekend Request shows on saturday nights, sundays will be packs all day with syndi weekend shows from Wwone, Premiere and so forth.Ok Let me come back to earth, I probably go broke in the revenue dept do to no adverts to pay for the idea.
Oh will I have to stop dreaming to be a PD here.

little off topic but,

Cough Cough...
about every station in NEK-VT
WGMT, WXXS, WMTK, WKXH... news all at once... pisses so many people off!
maybe the owners should realize to listen to their own dam station and that Kids are not like them We want music and not news that is going to interrupt in a middle a song that your jamiing out too!!

Also, we saw how Hartford gravitated to Bubba the Love Sponge back when he was on 104.1 for five minutes.
