So does this mean they're trying to move away from music altogether? Or just during the week? It was nothing but automation anyways. Wonder why the change?

By the way...

WIBQ is in Sarasota. It's 20 miles from Venice. Sounds as if they're trying to appear to have presence in more cities than they really do.

What type of alternative music are we talking about? Is it unique from Real Rock and O-Rock? Do they duplicate a good bit? Just curious...

also, what the heck is on IBC?

Real Radio is NOT joining the "IBC" network. In fact, IBC has been stealing the CNNRadio web feed for some time now (listen to the top of the hour on its website) without any permissions.

I don't know who they are but I expect things are about to get very bad for them.

chances are, walt sabo thinks they should only use talent that he has recommended. however,he believes anything is better than music for talk radio. he has always hated the cutting edge/real music weekends that real radio has programmed since rich boerner was assistant pd/music director, 1993-1996. Sabo's still hooked up as a consultant, his primary client is Sirius, where former Real Radio PD Jay Clark is now VP Programming

as for IBC (OTC:ICBS) Dunn & Bradstreet reports that they have a gross annual revenue of $100K ... uh , that's less than Russ Rollins makes in a year. How can you build/run a studio, much less, pay a salary on that?

IBC story has erroneous content

Per Radio Online...

IBC Radio Retracts WTKS-FM/Orlando Affiliate Status

Last Thursday (11-10), IBC Radio Network announced that Clear Channel's Talk WTKS-FM/Orlando would add IBC's programming in the overnight hours. But now, an announcement from IBC says press release contained erroneous content and fabricated quotes from PD Katherine Brown. In fact, there was never any communications between WTKS and IBC and the station has no plans to become an affiliate. IBC would only say that a future press release would "further clarify this situation." (11-14-05)

Thanks for clarifying....

Here's the link to the new release:

http://home.businesswire.com/portal...d=news_view&newsId=20051114005950&newsLang=en

I call attention to this sentence: "In fact, there have been no communications between Clear Channel Radio's WTKS 104.1 FM Radio and IBC Radio Network, and as a result, the station has no plans to affiliate with this network."

I figured something was fishy here, and that the light of day would flush this out.

Any theories as to how this happened or why?

My speculation: Many "penny stock" companies, which IBC is (IBCS is the symbol), often move wildly up and down or news. It's not unheard of for
such companies to churn out press releases on the slightest bit of news, to try to generate some stock activity. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but it's possible the process got out of hand.

A Google of "IBC Radio" produces some very interesting pages.

I don't think I'll be shocking anyone when I say that IBC has only four affiliates only for one reason, that being they pay. I can't find any shows of redeeming value on IBCRN, just the type of shows that promote investing in over-the-counter stocks like their own. And just like IBC stock, fleawatt brokered stations are a penny a dozen in Sarasota/Bradenton. Maybe they should get a station to clear them 24/7, like TalkStar did with WPGS over in Mims.

It's a pretty wide range of "alternative"..You'll hear new stuff like Bravery, Strokes, and Franz Ferdinand. You'll hear older alt stuff like Pixies, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Cure. There is a slight crossover of O-Rock with artists like Beck and Staind but you won't hear the Mudvayne or Slipknot type stuff.
