The station is making a 6000 watt upgrade to serve the Lake Charles area.

Format for KLCJ

What would be a good format for the station.

I'm thinking Rhythmic CHR to replace Hot 97-9. It seemed Hot 97-9 was doing well prior to Nash Icon. For me, it was certainly a better listen than KTSR that sounds really bland.

Agreed that LC has a big hole in the urban realm since KQLK's shift to country, and correct me here if I'm wrong, but isn't the K-Love translator still on 104-1, relaying KRLR? Could it be possible that K-Love/Air 1 might just be moving to the proposed 6kW KLCJ and the current translator occupying 104-1 either goes away or moves out of town? Seems like that would be a pretty healthy combo for EMF Lake Charles with K-Love on KRLR and Air 1 on an upgraded KLCJ (or vice versa).

The new KLCJ is owned by Delta Media in Lafayette. In Lafayette, they built a radio cluster from a bunch move-ins an 1 new station (KLWB 103.7). I suspect they are trying to move into Lake Charles and I wouldn't think K-Love is on their agenda. It is remotely possible they want to simulcast KLWB since there is no FM sports in Lake Charles and KLWB is all about LSU sports. Personally, I don't care for any of their Lafayette stations and this is all speculation.
