Does 104.3 still have dead air?
Bengalsfan said:the T1 going to the transmitter took a dump. But considering how the station has performed so far, they might as well pull the plug and hand the keys back to WAY-FM.

If they were to buy 104.3, between that and 88.5 you still couldn't get either one of them in a building downtown.
93.9 is the far better choice for covering the densest population.
Bengalsfan said:If they had of kept the 93.9 frequency on the air, they could have gotten a pretty penny for it just because the transmitter is downtown. But now that it's off, the new owner is gonna have to start with a blank slate. Which means they might be lucky to get a quarter of what it was worth when it was on the air. Right now, if it goes for more than a mil, I'll be surprised.
And that rent goes on whether they are transmitting or not. Wonder is the studios have been dismantled? If not, the rent clock is still ticking there as well.greg.hahn said:Don't forget, too, they're paying rent at the transmitter site. How was WJIE able to broadcast on 93.9 for that short period of time a few years ago. I believe Tom Dorsey mentioned it in his column before the CJ made him "retire."WildcatGuy said:Isn't 93.9 on top of the National City building downtown?

When you say WRKA, you mean 103.9?greg.hahn said:93.9 is on top of the National City Building (now PNC) in the same room with WRKA.KyDXIn said:WildcatGuy said:Isn't 93.9 on top of the National City building downtown?
When 93.9 was awarded to a full power station, that took precedence over WJIE's translator, so the FCC simply took the frequency away from them.

So with 93.9 off the air, does that mean WJIE can turn the translator back on? What steps have to be taken to do that?
The Terre haute FM doesnt want to move according to the maw and paw owners is it would cause confusion to their listeners by moving 1 little dial flip down a spot to 93.7. plus i think they want money from cumulus to do itBengalsfan said:KyDXIn said:When you say WRKA, you mean 103.9?greg.hahn said:93.9 is on top of the National City Building (now PNC) in the same room with WRKA.KyDXIn said:WildcatGuy said:Isn't 93.9 on top of the National City building downtown?

Not quite. the license for 93.9 has to go away. JIE can't turn on a translator with a full power license still there. I'm hearing rumors that the folks at JIE are buying the current 93.9.
And the Indy upgrade hasn't happened yet. The FM over near Terre Haute hasn't moved yet. From what I understand, they are not in any real hurry to move either.
