104.3 McFarland On Air

Heard over the last week, 104.3 broadcasting a steady stream of older country (mostly 80s stuff), IDing the station as KBQF McFarland. Good signal in Bakersfield. I know they did this for a while a year or so ago, only to turn it off after requesting an extension with their license.

Any ideas? Who is Jab Broadcasting?

I heard the same station while I was going through the area last week as well, but that station has no commercials & no top of the our ID as well. Sounds interesting, huh?

I was wondering the samething last week. There is also a 100.9 (I think thats the freq.) thats been on and off as well. Maybe a lpfm its only good for a 2-3 mile range on the 99 near ming.

KBQF McFarland - Super Éxitos?

For a while KBQF apparently was carrying a trendy Spanish language service from México called "La Ligera" was tropical, rock-en-español and other less commonly heard styles.. TuneIn now says the audio comes from superexitos.biz a more traditional Mexican rural sound with some pop mixed in.
Is that really true? The websteam does not ID any KBQF station. I live too far away to DX that Bakersfield rimshotter.

JAB Communications only other station is KRBN , a class C3 serving the Redding market from Manton , a station that does not stream.

'La Ligera' audio link on TuneIn that at one time was associated with 104.3 no longer seems to work. However I also noticed a link for 'La Mejor Bakersfield 104.3 fm' which may have been a follow-on project...not to be confused with 'La Mejor Networks' networks of Radio Lazer that has been slow to rollout streaming and their own format-specific app... The TuneIn audio for the 104.3 is unstable at best.

The TuneIn listing even included a non-working URL: www.1043lamejor.com. .

Using the Lazer Broadcasting IPhone/Android app I note KBQF broadcasts the same content as KXTT Maricopa... "La Mejor Network"

Thats what lazer does... they own the network(s) and in every case of a station lazer owns, they have their stations running the network programming. they do have affiliates they dont own that run the network programming. I heard several of their California FM's in Wyoming

Besides KBQF the two shareholders for JAB Broadcasting also own KRBN in Manton which is a rural crossroads southeast of Redding. KRBN is listed as carrying Spanish language programming so.perhaps its an unlisted affiliate of Lazer content... don't have confirmation.

I listened to KRBN 94.3 for several hours while driving around Redding on Monday. The station frequently mentioned their slogan "Puro Radio Lazer" but never gave any legal IDs. KRBN was not airing the srandard Lazer Broadcasting "Radio Lazer" network feed injected with local IDs but Instead it appeared to be a random archive of songs, probably from a computer at the transmitter site.

KRBN on 10/5 filed for a "license to cover" on their new 2.1kw ERP configuration. Still a C3, there's no real change in coverage for this Redding-targeted station. It remains an enigma. Now that Amador Bustos is entering the Redding market with 92.1 Cottonwood, this might force JAB Broadcasting to do something with this C3 property.
