104.3 Simulcast and rebranding update

Glenn Geffner of the Marlins just raised an interesting point to me: We may not see any rights based broadcasts (ie: Marlins, Heat, Sunday Night baseball, etc.) on 104.3 until the transmitter move takes place because of potential conflicts with existing agreements in Palm Beach County.

We were surprised to hear a commercial stop set on 104.3 today.
They have to satisfy FP&L somehow.

I wonder if 790 will go back to their days as brokered radio!!

After the transmitter is moved south and the signal into Miami/Dade is better, I'm sure the simulcast will be over. My then, most people will know that "The Ticket" will be at 104.3. But what do you do with an AM station today? Brokered is not as profitable as it once was. Many companies who once ran brokered programming have moved strictly to the internet. I think a strict satellite feed of an all-sports network will pair nicely with the new FM sports station. Sales can sell it in combo and LFM can lock up another sports network in the market. And there are plenty of those!

Of course, with 760's killer signal.... ::)

BTW I am sure that ESPN Deportes would give their right arm to be on 790.....and with WAXY currently as ESPN Radio (English), who is to say it won't happen?

Exactly what is happening in NYC with 1050 and 98.7.

Not going to happen. most of the ESPN deportes stations are being LMA'd or are owned by ESPN's parent. Or, it's a Spanish broadcaster. LFM doesnt have the sales force to sell such a format. Now, if ESPN pays LFM to air the programming on 790......
