104.3 Tupelo

Noticed the 104.3 translator in Tupelo is on and simulcasting Miss 98. FCC database shows it will carry Tupelo's first radio station 580 WELO. Coverage of 104.3 seems to be good for the little 250w translator. It looks like it is on the WELO tower at 45 and Eason. I didn't see the FM on that tower at my last inspection but I probably missed it while buzzing by.

That's a shame that WELO isn't doing something unique anymore… back when it was standards or easy listening I knew of a few folks scattered all over N Miss that listened, even well outside their primary coverage area.

I would bet with a small FM signal they will try something new on WELO. Sports and talk are covered pretty well in Tupelo. I'm not sure what you'd want to try there.

You have Urban and Urban Gold
Both sides of Rock are covered
CHR, AC, Hot AC
Country is well covered
Gospel & various religious formats
Talk & Sports

Oldies, Classic Hits, or Classic Country maybe? All 3 are covered by Rimshots.

Noticed the 104.3 antenna side mounted on the tower yesterday. WELO is indeed still simulcasting Miss98 and that is whats on 104.3.

noticed this weekend WELO and 104.3 have flipped to oldies.

I guess to try and compete with some rimshots in the market. WAFM in Amory, 102.3 The Shark in Ripley and 95.9 WCNA. WCNA recently went to classic hits.
