104.5 The Team's Bruce Jacobs Apologizes For Anti-Gay Comments

After just three months on the job, new 104.5 The Team afternoon drive host Bruce Jacobs is in hot water. This week, he had to apologize on the air for using anti-gay epithets in mocking the WNBA. Meanwhile, he doesn't think he'll be fired over the remarks. Yet the station PD says the matter is "being dealt with internally". Uh-oh.

By the way, this is the same Bruce Jacobs who used to do mornings on (conservative) talk radio in Phoenix. One time he made a comment about a police officer's widow that drew a boycott of his show's sponsors from the Phoenix Police.

Give him a suspension for the holidays and bring him back after all the bowl games and some NFL playoffs. Being unable to comment on some of that frenzy with a bandage on his mouth for the duration might set his priorities in order for a good career.

I love this guy's stuff -- the straight, clean stuff. He doesn't need to play Russian Roulette with the microphone to be entertaining. He is major-market-grade talent without all the excess.

Jacobs : Get it together, pal. You are good enough for the big time without needing to have your own worst enemy -- yourself -- standing in you way of a major-market paycheck.

I tell ya, I haven't seen a sports radio host shoot himself in the foot more times since Sid Rosenberg - who, himself, is in the midst of a suspension in Miami, I hear...
