104.5

Hi everyone. Now that the Buzz moved a little further up the dial, what is on 104.5? Is it still owned by Regent? Thanks so much!

Well according to the experts here, nobody was listening to 104.5 prior to the format flip. So why is everybody all up in arms over ESPN? As if anybody here cares....

...should start calling this the board for all the EMO radio peeps!

[EDIT]

FM was created as a high-fidelity alternative to AM. Now, it's the norm and not the alternative. There's nothing wrong with talk, sports, or any other programming on FM. Look at WAMC, a top 10 rated station in Albany, and they've got very little music. Don't hear people clammoring to have that station relegated to the AM band, do you?

There's many markets around the country that have successful talkers on FM. Why should Albany be held back in the 20th century? Get with the times! As for music, there's no shortage of it on FM so stop whining.

(and what's with the 3 meters thing? NOBODY calls FM the '3 meter band'. VHF or UKW in some parts of the world, but not 3m.)

Um, no it was not. AFTER it was invented, people realized it's superiority, at least in terms of audio quality, to AM. Companies who had interest in am stations at the time tried to squash fm entirely. Read up on RCA.

This is certainly true!!! What was done to Edwin Armstrong was reprehensible.......

Ummm... the experts here are once again mistaken. Armstrong set out to develop a better sounding mode of transmission that was free of electrical interference. The frequencies selected (42-50mhz) are for the most part inherently static-free, while Frequency Modulation was primarily created for it's higher quality audio properties. RCA only became threatened by FM after it hit the air (and really, a classic example of how corporations set policy in this country).

You usually don't come up with a reason to invent something *after* it's invented. Read up on Armstrong... he had a reason to invent the FM mode, and subsequently make it a reality. RCA and Sarnoff came along after FM was already available to consumers.

Who cares??? Blah blah blah fm was made because of this and that and this and that yadda yadda yadda... 104.5 wasn't bad, the move to sports is stupid in my opinion but hey, thats just my opinion. Now you may continue to argue over Radio Jeopardy supremacy...

It will be nice to hear New York Yankee Baseball in Clifton Park after 6pm without having to tune to 880am or fire up the XM.
