Well, I've certainly noticed that 104.7 Kiss FM has gone more towards a traditional top 40 sound and backed off a bit from their heavy rhythmic lean. They are playing a lot more hit music, including alternative hits, once again.
I've got to admit that even though they were ok before, I do like the direction it's going into now, not only because they are playing more variety hits, but also because KZZP drifting more towards the top 40 instead of the heavy rhythmic lean also helps to give JamZ KZON more of their own identity. I hope both JamZ and Kiss will benefit from this.
While JamZ has been adding quite a bit of uptempo hits to their playlist, I must say Kiss FM is taking it even further! I just heard David Guetta play as I was preparing to create this topic. Earlier today, I heard Dirty vegas. I've also been hearing the Crookers remix of "day 'n' nite" by Kid Cudi, dance remixes of "love lockdown" and "hot & cold", and a bit of Alice Deejay lately. Right now they are playing "poker face".
As far as their morning show, I'm not going to sit here and criticize anyone, but I will say there definitely should be more music in the mornings on Kiss. I'm sure if the morning show "kept it really safe", they could still do a syndication and still manage to play songs that are appropriate for each station they are on. Kiss is sounding alright overall, but more music in the mornings and maybe an extra mixshow or two throughout the day and more action on Friday nights would be better. Bringing back their new music show 2 hours on Sunday's or 1 hour weeknights would be neat as well. Their HD2 channel NOW seems to be pretty interesting...

Well, on a bit of an unrelated note, all this is definitely happening a lot faster than I expected - the signs of hip hop continuing to top the charts and dominate most top 40 and rhythmic radio declining! I noticed how not only have many hip hop artists branched off into other genre's, but a lot of older past currents in hip hop are being filled in these days on radio where you'd normally hear a lot of new hip hop hits. Things.......... are changing, and all I'm going to say is I'm looking forward to the direction we're headed in.
