With the move of WOW 104.9 over to 100.9 the new format has already leaked out on the JVC Broadcasting Website as it will go to a news/talk format.

Not sure how this is going to over with 97.3 being the dominated news-talk player, but if they spin this to a very local talk format with some national programming they might have a chance to hold their own how WOCA does it in Ocala against WSKY.
And is a few two cents to add on...
First JVC blundered badly when they dumped Party for Smooth last September. I think the programming was horribly executed and Smooth sounded like an afterthought to a way more professional sounding WOW. The jingles even sounded horrible and who in the heck uses Christmas jingles past Christmas? That drove me nuts. JVC would have been better off had they made the move with WOW to 100.9 back then and allow the talk format to come on then. Talk about a loss of money there.
Second, WOW just sounds so much better on 100.9 and when driving to Daytona a few weeks ago station reception was solid until I was driving on the Ocala Bypass (FL 326) when it started to go in and out. Not bad for a 6k Class A, but to have WOW on a full power in town signal is great! However, I don't understand in the end why JVC just didn't keep the simulcast, but if they think a talk format will work on 104.9 then we will see. I know Sports did alright there for a time.
Anyways let's see who wants to comment on this one...
Back to the football world I go.
