If Tejano really sucks why would Univision waste money on that station to put it on the hd dial??
I am not being sarcastic or nothing I just want to know because I am curious.

Nobody is saying that Tejano sucks. Simply stated... Tejano today does not generate the amount of audience in most markets that it takes to sustain a full facility, but it is a very attractive format for an HD2 channel because there is interest, just not enough for the main signal.

Nothing in radio is here to stay, including radio itself.

What??? Radio will always be here.

No, it won't. Most anyone with an IQ over room temperature knows that the content delivery aspect may endure, but over the air AM and FM radio are not going to be around for a really long time more.

The US often trails behind in technology compared to other places like Japan and Europe. You can already see some evolution in other places. In the UK, they are getting ready to shut off all traditional AM and FM signals in favor of DAB this year:

It's not hard to imagine at some point, whether WiMax or some other technology, where the Internet really will be everywhere (wireless) and people will have small hand held devices capable of streaming Internet stations, Internet in the car, etc.

it doesnt really take that much money at all to make this happen. since we already have HD up on the main carrier 104.9, adding channels 2,3,4,etc is as easy as clicking on the importer computer and enable that new channel and start feeding audio. there is no additional equipment but a simple computer with an ibiquity license and some network cables and go

also some of tejano audience are party listeners and so it goes with some sense to put tejano on the multicast channel
