.....Is streaming. Well, sorta

http://radio.demopolislive.com/

Click there, then scroll down and click on tune in now. A pop-up will load, select 104.9 Jack FM from the pulldown menu and click "Start THis Broadcast".

THey are only streaming "Ken Michaels & Robert The Button Pushers" morning show from 6 to 9am.

Now, Ken's a great jock and I'd love to listen.. but the noodleheaded hicks tuned the raido to 106.5 and not 104.9 this morning ;)

Speaking of Ken Michaels, What is his connection with WQST? He used to host the afternoon show and other occasional local stuff on the station. The last time I listened he was still doing voice overs, commercials etc. for QST. Did he originate from Forest or was he "phoning it in" from somewhere else? And speaking of WQST, any updates on sister station WZQK? They are still ID'ing the station even though its now dark.

WZQK is dark while the tower and other facilities are being moved. The move will makeway for several improvements, including the signal and studio equipment I've been told.

I'll leave the other questions up to Mr Michaels himself, he'd know better then me obviously ;)

This is Ken Michaels, I have no connection any longer with Rainey Communications nor Jackson Communications. RIP long time radio guy Larry Parks, Ken Rainey, and Myself kicked WQST and then WZQK off. when Larry passed on "everything went to hell". Ken Rainey has Mike Goodwin and his prodeshe' Larry somebody from the old carthage station over there now.

I got alot going on, miss all the nice people around those area's, but will not be doing anything with either of those stations again.

ahhh, i like this one "pushers get pushed!" it's from Stephen Kings
Storm Of The Century.

guess they like my spots, and vo's? well, let me reword that, ahhh, hell they don't even know how to work cool edit to record new ones! god bless'em! :p

please over look my half- assed spelling, it's been a long day! ;D

Ken:

I heard that WQST is still licensed, according to fccinfo.com, radio-locator.com and fcc.gov for 10KW/4 towers.

A friend of mine from Jackson drove by, said they've only got one tower up and are operating at alot less then 10KW. He figured somewhere between 500 and 700 Watts.

If they had an STA to operate at reduced pwoer, it's gone now. How come they're still "licensed for 10KW" for 4 towers but only running about 500 Watts with one tower?

WQST-AM is 500 watts, with 1 tower, a daytimer with sign on and off, at different times month to month, and as far as WQST "IDing"
WZQK (as posted earlier) the people there don't have a clue on how to work the automation...and they burt their bridge.

I still like Jack FM.  When I can get them, I like to tune in.  This station is the bomb and I like the way they do things.  They rock!  :D

WZNJ, in Demopolis Alabama (About 60 miles east of Meridian), needs to change their format already.  They still suck and bore the Heck out of me.  I detest the current format, they now have.

hey radio gal, pjr, and rdp thanks for all the great comments on 104.9 JACK FM! we do have a blast, and love radio totally! Thanks again, km. ;)

Why didn't WZNJ in Demopolis Alabama, give this a try? It would have been better than this "Boring" Smooth R&B and Classic Oldies format.

I understand why WSLY 104.9 FM, in York/Meridian switched to Jack FM.

I still don't understand why WZNJ 106.5 in Demopolis Alabama, switched their format? Thought the Rockin' Oldies and CCM format, was working out for them.

Maybe someone with more knowledge can enlighten me, as to the why they did it.

P.S. I hope WZNJ's sister station, WINL 98.5 FM, will remain Country and Southern Gospel. The last thing West Alabama needs, is another Urban Flavor for the month, type of radio station.

I have a question, and I hope this does not come across as confrontational, because that is not how it's meant.
Why did you guys decide to go with JACK when SAM is in the same market? Or was JACK there first? How worried are you about the 2 stations causing confusion with listeners?
Also, how much freedom are you given regarding music selection?

well, we are all about fun radio, and 104.9 hit the nail
on the head! as far as the S.A.M. vs JACK-FM , no sweat...
both stations are tight, at JACK we throw all the norms
out the window. S.A.M. was the first station to do the
"VHits" format, we lean more on the rock side.

confusion among listeners, NONE! lol ... they both sound
totally different and have special unique features of their
own.

Arbs mean nothing to me, we get the sale, got the listeners,
and have blast with the whole set up. how much freedom?
"104.9 JACK FM (TM) PLAYING WHAT WE WANT (R)" ;) km

You guys definately have fun, I can tell that by looking at The Friday Night(On Saturday) Kruise Jam Pics. I'm jealous!
