104.9 WROO is now Fox Sports

Couldn't find this reported anywhere yet.
It looks like 104.9 in Greenville didn't "Man Up" enough
and changed formats to become Fox Sports Radio.

I wonder what is in store for Spartanburg
which already has Fox Sports Radio at 98.3...

There's a big overlap since 104.9 increased their signal not long ago.

Perhaps X98.5 in Greenville can add a 98.3 Spartanburg simulcast
which would go very nicely (X98.3/98.5) would be a good idea,
But for now, the 98.3 translator in Spartanburg is fully redundant.

Hi, I believe it was discussed below on the thread titled "Upstate Changes" or something like that.

As for 104.9, they do not have city grade signal in Spartanburg proper. So, 98.3 will continue to serve its purpose as a Fox sports affiliate.

It was mentioned here on this board along with allaccess and radio insight over a week ago

The 104.9 signal is static free in most of Spartanburg county including most of the city itself...
The 60dbu contour goes right thru the city of Spartanburg near/west of downtown.
I live in Gaffney and can't hear the 98.3 signal at all...doesn't make it past Cowpens...However the much stronger 104.9 makes it here just fine...I've had issues with 98.3 not too far out of town...but from what I can tell most of the city gets a good enough signal on 104.9, which is on par with 103.9 in Easley and 106.3 in Simpsonville (The other Class C3s) in the area.

The station brands as Fox Sports Upstate which would include both Spartanburg and Anderson.
The WSPG Fox Sports Spartanburg 1400/98.3 is separate yet overlapping with the same programming... This makes 4 sports stations in Spartanburg and 3 in Greenville and Anderson...
Maybe they'll do something else with it eventually, we'll see.
