I am VERY impressed with the product coming out of that station. The afternoon guy is getting better. (although I bet he bolts as soon as he gets another TV gig)
The news is excellent, I love Boortz. Wow, if only the morning guy would start working on his show again it would be super.
It's not 90s-era over-the-top Mark Larsen (which I miss, BTW), but it's a whole different style which I think he adjusted to quite well with time. He still gets to be Larsen from time to time, he still gets to bring in some of the elements of his old show (the 1st time caller bell, hump day), and it's more information-based. I really like the combination in the morning on my drive to work, except I believe it's just a tad interview heavy, as interviews generally bore me to tears.
I agree with you on Boortz. I believe the station made an excellent move in bringing his full show in due to Snow's departure to the WH. Though he's in Atlanta, his show seems to have a closer, more local feel to it than most of the other national people.
Fasulo, the afternoon guy, is likeable, smart, and has a good sense of humor. This is why I still hold hope for him. He needs to cut back on doing entire segments with ex-coworkers, next-door neighbors, and relationship experts. Again, this type of dialogue I'm not a big fan of.
I like the overall direction 1040's going in, and it seems to me like Maduri is letting the radio people do radio while he does what he does. He just needs to see about getting signal improvements.
