1041 HD2

so with 1041 going mainstream rock what does that leave for 1041 hd2? will it still be ccm? or will it be maybe..deep classic rock? i have been wondering about this. will a station play marilyn manson on fm and point of grace on the hd2 station? that would be ..well..really weird ;D

Because of the lack of coverage with the HD signals, you probably won't be able to hear the HD channels in New Orleans or Baton Rouge from the Vacherie site. Many installations are finding the HD coverage seviceable only to about the 70 dBu contour.

Depending upon where you are in Baton Rouge and New Orleans yes...... as the 70dbu signal reaches Hammond, but barely....

From what I've heard about it on AM though (from the first test of WOR 710am)... It supposedly (IBOC) has almost the same reach at least as 60 dbu however... but like everything else in radio..depends upon terrain

RFLA

There isn't enough signal in the digital domain to reach much beyond the 70 dBu contour. I've seen reports that it sometimes won't reach beyond the 80 dBu contour. A receive antenna at 40 feet gives you a fighting chance, but as reception conditions vary you may find much blending back to analog. Hd2 channels have no analog to blend back to, so you would have intermittant loss of signal. Rim shots just don't work well with a system that doesn't work well to start with. The best New Orleans coverage of HD will come from the towers located across the river in Algiers. Anything else is iffy.

Houston HD signals on 1800'+ towers reach at a minimum of 75 miles. HD on 104.1 will be fine in NOLA and BR in the car and spotty in buildings.

Cited examples: KIOL-HD...reaches from Sulphur, LA to Katy, TX. KTBZ/KLOL/KHMX/KODA et al reach from Missouri City, TX to about 10 miles shy of Beaumont. I'm the owner of a Kenwood HD radio and have been nothing but ecstatic about HD radio. On AM, it sounds good but is very unreliable and has an amazingly short range. Radio Disney (WBYU) starts dropping out of HD before reaching LaPlace.

thanks now for my original question? waht about ccm on 1041 hd2? is it still gonna happen?
