1045 the Zone question

this is where i probably get banished and have to turn in my GUY card..but i don't understand the religious fervor over sports..i watch football on weekends, mon night etc...like to see titans, tn, vandy win..but don't shoot the dogs or wife if they don't. i haven't watched a baseball game since mantle and maris played, have never watched a basketball or hocky game..or nascar...i listened to a sports show when i was in a car with someone else and just stunned that so many guys have all this intricate knowledge of trivia dating back decades and seem to be able to disect the most obscure stats relative to serbian badmitton. i played sandlot growing up next to the local babe ruth field, nice to have a real ball field to play on during the weekdays, but didn't play on a team..played football/basketball with the kids around the block..but when it got dark went in and watched tv..guess i just never made the connection...guess i'm just old and crazy.. ::)

Delta, I enjoy sports because it is better than most programming on television. Like you my life is not over if the Titans, Vols, Commodores and whoever else win or lose. NASCAR is not on my radar, but I see its appeal to others. I played sports as a youth and through college. As a marketing major and business owner I am fascinated by television and radio programming, what works, what attracts advertisers and listeners. That includes NASCAR.

I would rather have my fingernails torn out than listen to "Delilah" on Mix. Talk about the repetitive seminar callers. "Hello Delilah, I am (married, engaged to, dating) the most wonderful (man, woman). (He/she) does (fill in the blank with personal ad fodder like drawing a bath, rubbing sore shoulders). Would you please play (name any song that Mix 92.9 plays at least once a day every day for the last ten years.) for us? Thanks."

Don't burn your man card. I prefer hanging around someone with balance in life, too. I prefer that person over the fan who sulks on Monday because his/her team lost on the weekend. It's just sports, people.

would rather have my fingernails torn out than listen to "Delilah" on Mix even my wife had me turn that crap off the other night...tuned in by accident during... uughhh.. bondage night...lol...darn near spoiled the next three minutes..

Given a choice of listening to Delilah on Mix 92.9 for a half hour or taking a meat cleaver and chopping off my little finger.
"Give me the cleaver'.

the definition I was using for flagship was:

A flagship station is the "home" station of a broadcast network (radio or TV). It can be the station that produces the lion's share of material for the network, or the station in the parent company's home city or both.

interestingly enough, from Wikipedia.

I imagine in the 60s and 70s the flagship did all the production work, but that has not been the case for 20 or more years.

Looks to me like this board would be a lot less bored if we let Delta69
moderate...thought about running for President? Awh, sports just keeps
ya tied up anyway...

Er, rock on...

Looks to me like this board would be a lot less bored if we let Delta69 moderate... i could never do anything in moderation...usualy wide open..backwards most of the time as i look back on my lack of career..i do try to moderate on beer..buying the smallest quantities available uugghh..a case is THE SMALLEST they make...right ? ::)

Don't sweat it, man. That mentality you describe is what they used to get Bud Adams' stadium built here in town. Pacman Jones is reason enough to walk away from football, and never look back. These spoiled crybaby millionaires should never be tolerated!

How long do you think it will be before he (Pacman) and his posse will be in trouble with the Police again? LOL He needs to sit back and take a look at things such as: Gee, I am making millions of bucks. I can have everything I ever dreamed about, Flashy new cars, the very best of everything. Travel anywhere, anytime. I can pretty much have it all. Yet, this guy is bound and determined to get himself kicked out of the NFL or get arrested or perhaps both.
