105.1 FM TALK

Just checked out the wlrs.com website and they have taken down the old EVERYTHING THAT ROCKS page and have put up a page that only has 105.1 FM TALK in the middle of the page. It's finally official. I'm curious to see a lineup. I assume they won't do anything at all local, but wonder if they will have any news or weather or anything at all.

If they would just partner with any local TV station for hourly news & weather updates, it would be an improvement over WHAS on weekends...

Hey, Bob. Whatever happened to Peter Smith?

My apologies for going off topic.
I assume he & Margo are still in Philly. He dropped me an email in the last year in response to something on this site--he may not chime in, but he reads us! He's one of my fave PD types...

You can forget anything local here. Louisville radio has been in the toilet for years now. My guess would be: Glenn Beck, Laura Ingram, Michael Savage, maybe some other right wing regurgitation like Rusty Humphries and Roger Hedgecock. By the way I think left wing regurgitation is just as bad. If you have heard one show you have heard them all. But since I don't listen to any of it any more (I like Alex Jones, Rollye James and occasionally Coast to Coast AM) it doesn't really affec me.

The lineup is already out:
5am - 9am = Mancow (LIVE)
9am - 12noon = Laura Ingram
Noon - 3pm = Michael Savage
3pm - 6pm = Glenn Beck
6pm - 9pm = Jerry Doyle
9pm - 10pm = Monica Crowley
10pm - 1am = Jim Bohannon (LIVE)
1am - 5am = Phil Hendrie (LIVE)

I like the 10pm to 5am block and I enjoy both hosts and the fact they are live. Not sure if any other shows air live I I don't listen to them anyway.

If 105.1 would bring back Joe Elliott they would dominate 84.

Gotta spend money to make money.

I only take exception to that statement because of 105.1's marginal signal. To quote former Louisville PD Peter Smith, if you want to win the market, you need to make sure your milk truck stops at all the houses. 105.1's doesn't. Now if this same plan were executed on 93.9 with Joe Elliott & others along with local 24/7 news & weather, it wouldn't decimate Rush Limbaugh's Kentuckiana blowtorch, but OVER TIME, it would do them enough damage that they may find themselves forced out of the top 2...and that would be healthy for the listening audience. I would dearly love to see WHAS and WAMZ both have to fight for their existence by getting back to where they were before CC gutted the places...

Gotta spend money to make money...you betcha!

Yeah, I have a hard enough time trying to pick them up in Radcliff/Elizabethtown

Lots of static but can make out what is said.

This makes no sense! Why would Savage leave 50,000 watts to go to an FM that will play the previous days broadcast?

I checked it out a little. What vile talk. I'd rather listen to the music they had playing a few days ago, BEFORE they fixed the processing, lol.

Yeah, he was a helluva PD. Great with music flow.

That's what I've said all along. I wonder if there's another market in the deal?

As I suspected Savage is 9p - Mid. And I'll bet this weekends will be flooded w/ Savage.

Savage's people at TRN blinked and pulled off WHAS for 105-1 in Louisville in daytime hours (delayed)
12noon til 3pm, and Greg Hahn is correct, also another market, try Dayton, look for WKSW to flip soon,
earlier today they were still Country, it seemed, at least their web site was up...

The sad news is that these stations will do about a 0.5 to 0.9 12+ and well see 105-1 have to change formats in fourth quarter of 2010. Mancow in am drive did NOT work in Indy or Cincinnati on stations bigger than little
105-1. Mainline obviously doesn't want to program it with a local p.d, so they should just bite the bullet and sell it. Donate it to Hank Hanegraaff's ministry and he can give it to Salem Louisville. Mainline gets a tax write off and Salem Louisville can put that station to good use.

Where did you get this? This is correct.

Mancow starts at 6am. Jerry Doyle was on from 6pm-8pm. Savage was on AGAIN 8pm-10pm
