A licence was granted quite a while ago to this french station.
I understand they will be a community French station.

103.9 is expected to become the new home of Toronto's Gay and lesbian radio, putting an end to Toronto's ability to listen to 104.1 WHTT, and sadly, we can also say good bye to being able to pick up WKSE as 98.7 is expected to become the new home of World beat and non classic religious music, with a main focus on the Caribbean and African communities, subject to final CRTC aproval.

If CRTC gives the go ahead, the new station at 98.7 will most likely be the same interference that the CBC french test a while back offered, making it very difficult to listen to WKSE.<P ID="signature">______________

this stations might be picked up in certain areas of the city....i know 106.5 comes in well downtown, but the further north, the weaker.

I hope 98.7 isnt approved but it might be as 98.5 is a US station and CRTC doesnt care.I really like 98.5 and I receive it "averagely" in my location.

The 98.7 frequency has been denied, but a group that wants to air carribian music on that frequency has been told they may broadcast, but not on 98.7, as it causes too many problems interfering with 99.1 (somehow).I hope they fail to justify that there won't be any interference with 99.1. It's the only hope they have of using 98.7, and I do love WKSE.On the bright side, if 98.7 does go into use in Toronto, at least WKSE streams now.

Ya but what good is streaming...can't stream in the car. Hmm I cant recall the signal of 98.5 when CBC or whoever tried 98.7.Where does it show it was denied?

#31: Accordingly, the Commission approves in part the application by A. Fitzroy Gordon, on behalf of a corporation to be incorporated, for a broadcasting licence to operate an English-language, commercial specialty FM radio programming undertaking at Toronto, Ontario. However, the applicant’s proposed use of frequency 98.7 MHz is denied.Source: http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Decisions/2006/db2006-135.htm
