105.1 OFF AIR!

I'm not sure what's going on with the former Powell stations. Hell, even WPFM seems to act up on occasion, too. I remember a whole afternoon in April when 107.9 had a second of a song repeating over and over for about three hours. Then, after fixing it and playing music normally for an hour, it was back to doing that again!!!

I am not sure if Rogatinski still has them or not, I think he sold them, CCeng can comfirm. I had 95.9 on the other day and the songs DRAG as if the pitch is off by 8 to 10 %, it sounded dreadful.

Powell stations

yes they have been sold but I have been told by a very reliable source that there are some legal bumps (assuming contracts, etc) that haven't been resolved

out of phase

yep it sounded weird.....sounded to me like the 38 khz L-R subcarrier was not phased locked with the pilot....it was drifting in and out of phase and then would flip 90 degrees and start the process again.....I listened today and it sounded like they had fixed it......it could have been the digital codec they are using for an STL but my gut is going with the 38 kHz subcarrier not phase locked.

Do they even have an engineer? They have no staff. I suspect whoever they have is someone who has employment elsewhere. Back when it was Waitt there wasn't an engineer for a short period so they would always use the guy from Fox TV and you could tell he hated getting calls from the radio station when it was off the air.

Fro a couple of weeks now 95.9 continues to play music at the wrong pitch. Even the sweepers are off, everything is slowed down by at least 8 to 10 percent and it sounds horrible. Truly a "set it and forget it" operation. I can't listen long enough to even hear a Rogatinski commercial so I am not sure if they are still airing those or not.

To someone with more knowledge, what would be the cause of the slowed speed on everything?
