105.3 Austin ?

I'm in Austin now picking up a 105.3?? It's a religious format i thought a while back when there was 105.3 they moved it to 96.3 because of magic 105.3 in sa.

Actually, to sort things out just a bit...the translator that once was on 105.3 did move to 96.3 because of complaints from listeners of co-channel KSMG.

The one referred to in the link above actually began in Bastrop on 105.5 (as K288FJ) but was moved to Austin earlier this year, changing frequencies to 105.3 and rebroadcasting KLGO 1490. (Note that the frequency change wasn't noted in that previous thread.) Call letters are now K287FG, and the coverage area is shown here: https://maps.google.com/?q=http://t...req=105.3&contour=60&city=AUSTIN&state=TX.kml

Interestingly, the coverage of the present 105.3 translator isn't all that different than that of the previous occupant of the frequency. That's despite the fact that the KLGO translator has a directional pattern and somewhat less power. One has to wonder if any of those KSMG listeners have complained about this one!

Down in far South Austin, KISS 99.5, KSMG 105.3 and KXTN 107.5 are the SA FMs that we can pickup at least on our car radios. All are class C's with tall towers in the 1,500-foot range. You can expect the new 105.3 translator in Austin to have problems with KSMG's signal and vice versa in South Austin.

I'm getting interference from it 30 miles south of town when I'm listening to KSMG

Ever since 105.7 and 104.9 signed on, Magic just doesn't sound as powerful as it once was, and this is over by the airport area.

I can't believe the FCC is allowing this to happen. 105.3 KSMG is hardly listenable in a car now.Well look at how long 90.1 has been on the air.

I guess since it's a non - commercial translator and with Magic being in the fringe they won't listen to complaints.
