105-3 CAT COUNTRY

Uh oh......Cat country to 105.3 isn't the only change coming....Pizza party tells all to keep tuned in for more details!!

Radio-locator.com now lists the 94.5 as having the WDVT calls and, format? Oldies.
(Those calls were on an oldies FM on Cape Cod not too long ago)

Anyone in that area (I'm in Beverly MA) care to tune in and confirm? Any website?
Rutland Herald article from Sat

http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_action=doc&p_docid=11EBC8FA6777ED78&p_docnum=1

The article says WEBK's last song with rock format was the Stones' "When the Whip Comes Down"

Are the "other changes" referring to 94.5, or to WZRT/WSYB/WJJR?

I only briefly heard WEBK around 6AM on Friday morning and all sounded normal. Did the jocks mention the coming destruction of the station? Did they know???

Curiously the radio-locator.com page lists their slogan as "V93 The Vault"...? _93?)

http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/finder?call=WDVT&x=0&y=0&sr=Y&s=C

Speaking of cats, check out the signal pattern--looks like the outline of a cat's head (or some
kind of similar animal), tilted slightly!)

Radio-locator for some reason always remembers where the calls were used previously, when they show up on another station, and shows up with the slogan. 93.5 WFQR on the Cape was previously Oldies, and before that, was rock as "V93, The Vault."

They have this same problem with 97.7 WSNI, which shows up as being spanish (which is what 104.5 in Philly became for a while.) They were the previous station using the WSNI calls.

Regarding the question if the jocks knew of the pending switch....The pizza party told me that , like everything else at Camp Pamal...Nobody knew anything...

Maybe radio-locator also "remembered" the format of the former WDVT being "Oldies" and that's
why it showed up that way...I do know that supposedly it will simulcast Cat Country 105.3 for
awhile and then get a new format, or has it broken off already? Again, I don't live in the area (visit once in awhile)

From the Feb 18, 2008 "Rutland Herald"...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the time being Cat Country is being simulcast on 105.3 and at 94.5, WDVT (the former WJEN frequency).

Terry Jaye, operations manager for the Rutland stations, said the company would debut a new format on WDVT in the very near future. Asked whether the old WEBK format could make a comeback, Jaye would only say, "I think we'll have something for everyone in the market."

Fans of AAA in the Upper Valley will be happy to know that we at "The Point" (WNCS/WDOT/WRJT) have finally resolved our technical issues... so if you like AAA and miss WEBK, try us at 103.1 or 107.7 in the Upper Valley.

I'm the PD; feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Well...I'm certainly not going to attempt to listen to WXLE...Zeb....

When was that? 1995? Good memory. But they (WXLE Mechanicville/Albany NY) flipped out of the AAA format after my departure.

Actually the comment was sarcastic Zeb...I am as aware of the decline of that little creep show called WXLE as you are....The day that they flipped to "Jammin' Oldies" was hilarious...After that...All 80s....now it is ESPN Sports Talk. However you did do a nice job with it in '94-'95...AAA has returned to Albany too....on the former Classical station 97.7-WBKK that was in WXLE's basement with those huge reels of pre-recorded Classical music. Now it is listener supported AAA WEXT...

When I was there it was a stand-alone in a little house in Clifton Park; no Classical station in the basement. And boy was it humble; my office was the former laundry room. If you took my desk out you could slide in a washer and a dryer and hook them right back up.

But I have heard about The Exit, as the non-com AAA calls themselves. I wish them good luck! In my experience Albany may not be the best market for AAA... but then again, it's surely better than Salt Lake City, which was my next stop. Sheeeeesh. We would have done better there just playing Mormon Tabernacle records 24/7!

Zeb
