105.3 ihope radio

Was listening to LA CALIENTE 105.3 FM and they flipped to a rock song in English in between a banda song. And the RDS displayed IHOPE RADIO for like 5 seconds then changed back to LA CALIENTE.

I asked for a bacon and egg breakfast taco. After a few bites, I had a piece of ham come out. After that, it wasl bacon again.

On those low power FMs, whether they be LPFMs or translators, overriding by farther away signals is common due to climate and atmospheric conditions.

And this is all the more common in certain areas of the country, with the Houston are being in one of those areas.

IHope Radio is on 104.5, so not tropo override. I suspect this was a feed error...in the past I have found some Houston translators running "the wrong thing" and I suspect it is because many of the various program feeds go through a common switching point.

This. Running “the wrong thing” or originating programming on a translator that isn’t on a licensed broadcast station is often the norm in Houston. Is it that common elsewhere as well?

I doubt it - Centro Cristiano doesn't own stations elsewhere, to the best of my knowledge.

Centro Cristiano does own stations elsewhere in Texas and other states. They likely have a few names they file under to permit different types of business (ie: for profit and non-profit).

Not sure they ever actually moved. This latest grant appears to be what they are using now. This translator has been all over the place in its various proposed modifications.
I think they did for some time. I remember 105.3 being strong near Missouri City and weaker everywhere else. But as it is with all these translators, I am able to catch K287BQ in parts of town it has no business being in. It's just the darndest thing, I tell you!

Same goes for K237AL in Humble. It is weak, but listenable in Katy and pretty strong throughout the Energy Corridor. The station gets lost once you hit Antoine Dr and it begins to fight KMAZ. It's simulcasting K287BQ.

It's the same people, just a different name.

According to the state database SDK Franco LLC's registered agent is Sara Guevara. A quick google search for Sara Guevara in Houston gives me https://www.facebook.com/PastoraSaraGuevara/ - the phone number listed on there, (281) 448-6900, is the phone number for Centro Cristiano, and there are several mentions of Hector Guevara and Centro Cristiano on said Facebook page.
