I'm hoping for a rhythmic AC/Urban AC hybrid to compete with WBAV.
Something that leans quite younger, but still urban leaning old-school hits
from as far back as the mid 80s to the early 2000s. It could definitely complement 92.7
I'm in Gaffney, so I'll keep an eye out on what happens to 104.3 (WZZQ),
lots of people in this city love it, and grew up with it when it was on 105.3 as WAGI.
If it goes away, then watch alot of people in Gaffney get upset for a 2nd time.
WZZQ's local studio is still on Providence Rd in Gaffney (and it still says 100,000 watt WAGI on their building!)
I remember when WAGI switched to Spanish and most people were unaware about 1500 WEAC (now WZZQ),
it kept the WAGI-programming on AM only for 2 years before the translator went on. They thought it was completely gone!
WAGI programming was (and still is) completely gone for everyone else that isn't in Gaffney or Cherokee County.
I don't listen to country, so I don't really care if 104.3 goes away, but really what else would they flip it to,
I don't think Radio One would customize a "new" station just for Gaffney, except keeping the current WZZQ the way it is.
We'll see what happens
