105.3 still plays plenty of dance

Was out in the barrens and got a first listen of what TMO did to their stations.
105.3 was still playing quite a bit of dance and some hip hop as well, with some oddly placed ballads such as Kelly Clarkson "Breakaway". 107.1 was just plain weird. R&B, jazz, some modern AC mixed with standards. Got to be the strangest format I ever heard. 98.5 was still rockin more or less.
All stations use this extremely bland voice-over, and I only heard Club Bianco as a sponsor. I can't imagine how they can make any money with this!
I thought there'd be different sponsors every hour, but it seemed all the stations had the same sponsor. I don't know why they couldn't have had better voiceovers. This guy sounds like someone they pulled off the street.
Also the audio on the stations, esp 105.3, was way overmodulated and at times sounded like an "mp3 from Napster".

They just seem to have added spots from Napper Tandy's. Also, they're playing Men in Black by Will Smith for the second time in two days.

105.3 sounds better than it sounded the 1st day after the flip. Still the ballads & the pop/rock stuff are still way out of place & the energy of the station obviously is gone. After the first few hours was tempted to take it off of my presets because it sounmnded like a horrible CHR (very balladish more Hot Acish), but they are soundingf better so I will keep the presets. Better than the immediate aftermath, but still not nearly what they were before the flip though.
______________

That extremely bland voice-over is none other than Ronald J. Morey, CEO, 80% owner and Jed's father.

For a few laughs, check out RJ circa 1972 on CKOC in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada at this link http://rockradioscrapbook.ca/ronmorey.ram

Heard it last night here in NJ on tropo. I was extremely disappointed by what I heard. When I didn't hear Party 105's sweepers, I cried. I miss the energy of the old Party 105-3.
______________

Is it like one or two dance songs an hour, or is it, more like one Dance Song every 2 hours. How many dance songs are they still playing, and how often do they play them?

That day I was hearing about 4 or 5 dance songs an hour. However, I couldn't stand 105.3 today, I was lucky to hear one dance song an hour. The most frequent songs seem to be dull, pop ballads like Green Day "Wake Me Up When September is Over". The audio and signal was worse than ever. The overmodulation was even worse on 107.1.
And then there are those awful voice overs. They say 105.3 is better than your Ipod, yeah I don't think so, they could probably fit their playlist on a 128mb mp3 player! And how the heck can these pop ballads be considered "Party Hits"? Sometimes I think the Moreys are on drugs or something...

> They've kept the "Party" tag to hold onto whatever listeners they had,but they are now more concerned with actual "Hits"("When Me Up When september Ends" is a monster Top 40 hit record right now,and a GREAT record I might add.) HOWEVER, it's not a dance record, they are rapidly draining their playlist of all the diva records that were the mainstay there. They want a "Hits' station, and let's face it, by any definition of the word as far as the music industry is concerned, their prior playlist was niche programming, not "Hits" programming.

Oh man, I just caught that too...

cool music for Long Island

is ther monkier as of Oct. 1.
Bit of a strange format from Green Day to Emma.
They do still play dance though from time to time.
Think they're trying to appeal to the hip.

They're trying to go Top 40, it seems, but there's NO WAY they can even come CLOSE to WBLI. WBLI's signal ALONE greatly exceeds that of Party on a GOOD, CLEAR day. I listened today when I was out east and heard "Hoobastank - The Reason" on there. Definitely not a dance song.
