105.3 the fan

I'm surprised no one has brought up their 31.5 hour Cowboy pregame show. It starts noon Tuesday. Is this the last grasp? Do you think they will try 24/7 all Cowboys, all the time?

Probably not. Dallas is a winners town and with the Rangers success they would have to talk a lot about them. Especially if the Boys struggle. But I do think that the launch of the 24/7 CBS sport network, around the corner, will bring some major changes to The Fan.

Doubt if there will be a format change with the CBS sports network launch in January. Unless CBS is ok with the network just heard overnights and weekends on The Ticket. The Ticket definetly won't bump any of thier local daytime programming for CBS national daytimes. So CBS will probably use The Fan to clear the national daytime shows in Dallas. Also keep in mind they are just two years into a long term contract (10 years I believe) with the Cowboys. With that, along with the new network, sports talk will more than likely be in place on 105.3 in some form or faction for awhile.

That's true but I would bet there is a clause regarding the station's format. Especially with the Cowboy's desire to be on an all sports station that can dedicate more programming, like the for mentioned 31 hour long pregame. Even though CBS actually owns the rights, I'm sure the Cowboys have a say with regards to a format change or thoughts of moving the games to another station in the cluster.

I think that the Cowboys deal with CBS is some shared sales/marketing stuff. I'm sure all the in-game inventory belongs to the Cowboys.

Clearing CBS Sports Radio content would be an improvement. Let's hope they start with middays by adding Jim Rome and extinguishing Effinbomb.

The strongest full market FM signal in DFW, with the worst ratings on a full market signal in DFW. They have trickled down to a 0.08 in last book. Cowboys winning will indeed fix that as a patch, but advertisers don't just buy seasons. Or maybe they do, on this stick.

This ain't a piss minor market.. out of market sports talk will never be good here. Plus Rome is a bore to listen to. I'm really shocked that a major market like Dallas can't have 24/7 local sports. I for one don't care about what Billy Joe from Boston thinks about the Browns this year
