105.3 The Spy

It's 12 o'clock midnight. Do you you know where your children with a mic and a record player are?

Well, they're not on 105.3 FM...

Well, I wanted to record the switch-over, but who knows when it will be now. Good thing I have ~150GB free on the hard drive; guess I'll just leave it going til morning.

Website does acknowledge technical difficulties.

Ya have to know that there's some poor engineering guy out there somewhere pulling his hair out about now :( ... The best laid plans never seem to work out. The bad news is the P1s are up late waiting for their station that hasn't appeared yet, to their disappointment. The good news is 95 percent of those likely to listen to the station aren't up this late so by the time things are likely to be aightened out that 95 percent will be up to sample.

From The Spy's website:

We are experiencing technical difficulties. We will have them resolved as soon as possible.

Please stay tuned.

"the assumption of the depth of my pockets & the insult that i might actually need $$ from a third party, along with the dollar amount you attch'd to the original purchase of 105.3 fm, leaves me with the one & only conclusion...

clueless!"

Did mom's check bounce or someth'in? It's 9:45. Where art thou 'O Ferris?

OK.. Time for me to stop pick'in on Ferris. Obviously there's some serious problems at this point that aren't going to be easily resolved by fixing a link or something. Best of luck to ya bro. At least you had the balls to try to live your dream. Don't give up. A mis-launch isn't the failure of a station, only a small bump in the road... Good luck!

thespyfm.com now says:

We are currently undergoing unforeseen circumstances. We are working to get them resolved as soon as possible and re-launch TheSpyFM.

Okay, please..let us know WHEN the actual flip will occur, people are filling up hard drives recording 105.3's talk about Fut-Bol... Just isn't fair, ya know?

The unpaid version just won't let you keep old files multiple days without moving the files elsewhere. All you have to do to get around that is just copy what you want over once a day to another folder.

[Don't tell me you guys are going to go active rock heavy!

Lord I hope not! I haven't listened yet, and can't get it in my apartment, so it'll have to wait until I commute tomorrow. I agree with many of the comments...I suppose it's nice to play all the obscure Spy stuff, but if you'd even go halfway "true" mainstream alternative, you could get a few numbers. Play stuff that "regular" people know, and throw one or two of your off-the-beaten path songs in each hour, surrounded by gigantic hits. I remember The Edge playing Duran Duran and Dead Or Alive and Ace Of Base and Alanis and such...why not go crazy and do a bit of that? Why not go heavy on 95X gold? Seems like you did that a bit on the previous try of Spy. That's when I remember getting turned on to the likes of Quarashi's "Mr. Jinx" and A's "Nothing". By all means, throw today's stuff in there, but I'd definitely rather hear Phoenix and Muse and Mute Math and Owl City than Chevelle and Kings Of Leon and Slipknot and Puddle Of Mudd.

Egad! I've never heard of any of those groups listed on the website; something tells me they won't even have enough tenths to get into the book, if that's going to be their playlist. Put 'em on a specialty show Sunday nights, sure! Not 24/7.

From the station's twitter account:
Ok... So after 5 years off the air The Spy finally makes its return 2nite @ 12:01 am!

Again i apologize for the false start last nite! Viva le revolution! #thespyfm
