Why, exactly? WDBT not making enough $$$ for TRP, not beating "92 Jamz" in the ratings, or some other reason?

Good question. Lunacy perhaps? The Beat finished 4th 12+ behind WTVY, WOOF, & WDJR.
Not making enough $$$ would be a good reason. But I suspect it has to do with the Hard On
to beat WTVY mentality that seems to be clouding the capacity for rational thought at TRP.

You're right about one thing. Rational thinking is out the door at TRP. What could they possibly be thinking changing the positioning statement on DJR to "Today's Hit Country. More Country Classics", and then putting on a classic station down the hall? Two years ago the only classic country in the market was on DJR (and then only occassionally). Now you can't hit a button on the radio without hearing some B or C list 70's song. It's madness.

On the other hand, I was enjoying 105.3 until day 2, when the endless begging for advertisers hit on every break of the morning show. Every single break. Bill Moody was his name. I know that because I heard it three times an hour until I couldn't take it anymore and flipped to WOOF. Maybe they've stopped that now, I'm not sure. Why do they do that? Why would you want to sound that desperate on the 2nd day?

By the way, my sources say that the Beat flipped due to poor sales, not ratings. But I guess when you have a lily white sales staff headed up by an old white guy who was personal friends with Marconi, you're not going to get a lot of passion for an urban station.

I would be thankful for not having a station (that you and many others, lost to in the overall ratings) to compete with anymore.
Gotta admit though, that Marconi shot made me chuckle.....

In the overall scheme of things, the Beat just didn't have any revenue. Its kind of hard to keep it going if you don't have money coming in. Although the music kept rolling on....( It's another 40 minutes of hip hop and todays R&B......It's another 45 minutes of todays hip hop and todays R&B.....Its another 50 minutes of todays hip hop and today's R&B.......) there just isn't a viable urban market for advertising in the wiregrass. And don't give me that argument about "you need a good sales staff to sell the station"....Sure, you have lots of people who want to listen, but those listeners don't want to buy anything except South Pole, 22 inch dubs, Sub Woofers, Crown Victorias and Caprice Classics....So what good will it do you if you just keep spinning your wheels trying to add revenue???
......Hey!!!....Maybe there IS a market for urban listeners....Perhaps they should have renamed the station WDUB!!!!!!! The Donk Station!
Oh and while I'm at it...turn down your damn radios at the stoplights!!! My heart doesn't need help beating from the aid of your subwoofers....And get off my lawn!!!!!!!

Lol Go Xenophobe! You are comical ,Ever thought about being on Comedy Central ?
I do know one thing Amie Is scared with all the format changes at The Radio People. The Beat is a Perfect example of what's going to happen to TVY if they keep Amie's Dollar for Dollar advertising going on (Legends Luxury). It may dominate in the numbers but it has Low Low revenue and Low Pay That's why Magic Broadcasting cannot keep employees in Dothan. It was obvious when WLDA did not even air the Auburn / LSU game this past Saturday that didn't have anyone who even cared about manning the studio .But Of course it was played off as technical difficulty.
Listeners don't even know what to think anymore about this market. I think that is why alot of them like you Xenophobe have switched to WOOF. Which we all can't deny it may not be number 1 but it's consitant and listeners like that. I would venture to guess it's probably # 1 as far as revenue goes in this market. Why Or How you Ask ? Because they know what they are doing there. Don't Believe me ? Hey it's obvious look at everyones track record there in that building as far as length of time the employees have been working there. No other station around here can even come close which says alot about how the employees are treated.
Heck I heard that sales are so good there they had to expand thier sales staff to 10 people.

Maybe it's the new "Let us confuse the listeners approach to programming". If we say classics/legends on as many stations as possible, long enough, everybody will get equal country shares in the diaries

Yea, it is kind of funny that WLDA has so many technical difficulties, especially after GOD, oops I mean Dan Bradley has had the sales staff pushing the hell out of the Auburn packages............sort of makes the sales staff look stupid donchathink??????????? Maybe that is why the sales staff continues to dwindle down, day by day. Magic's disappearing act is getting better and better every day as people continue to vanish-don't know if that is because Dan Bradley really is the god that he THINKS that he is or maybe he really is a good magician.

As for Mason and Misty in the mornings at DJR I for one love the change. It is so nice to have something new and fresh. Did not care for Misty in several of her previous gigs but she seems to click with Brett and it is a fun show to listen to. It's not just all about one person like TVY is. People get tired of it being all about Amie, Amie, Amie. Amie is a nice person when she is not telling you what to do (and I guess that is all of the time-------whatever makes her look good) but enough of her whinning on the airwaves. Love Mason & Misty.

There is alot of Auburn Fans mad with WLDA right now and I do mean Alot . I listened to Phil Paramore's show on WOOF AM Monday morning and you would not believe at the number of callers that were disappointed at Magic Broadcasting for not Airing one of the Biggest SEC Games of the year it was comical at what Phil's listeners were saying about all this .
It's like Phil said about it all " If they infact having technical deficulties with thier satallitte why didn't they just do the game over the phone ?" The AU Network has that capability of doing that .
If I was an advertiser I would pull my advertising from them for screwing it all up . And I bet that Dan Bradley isn't even going to make the spots up also probably is still going to bill out those spots for that day ,Which Is wrong .

Brett And Misty Keep up the good work .You guys sound great, Don't worry TVY Will be going down soon .

Oh yea WTVY is definitely going DOWN............with the rest of the Magic ship. Sell, sell, sell........."go forth and multiply"---words from Dan Bradley. All available packages were sold for the Auburn games........Dan demanded it................so what happened with the game???????????? Just like everything else Dan touches, I think it's the midas touch????except everything that he touches turns to sh&$??!!!! That's just the kind of guy that he is. Just another beautiful day in the neighborhood. All of the Magic stations are going down. Such a shame...................

Hey kids, Joewilly's back. I've heard the Brett & Misty thing. It's a far cry better than the "enough about
me let's talk more about me" morning show at TVY. What the enormous ego that runs that show has forgotten is that listeners are tuned in for George Strait and George Jones not a daily update about
her swollen cankles. Yes the calves and ankles have melded. Ewwwww. The resurgence of the legends
or library songs in country music is strokin' and greasin' the big hog nationwide in smaller to medium markets.

If it takes a poorly, and I do mean poorly executed 105.3 to whittle down the mouth of the south at TVY, then so be it. Her 15 minutes are up and everyone she's leaned on for her success has either jumped ship,
run like a scalded dawg, refused to be used any longer or squashed like a tic. Hey if your still in control, whip out the Legends Luxuries and win another for the downtrodden. What??? No Legends Luxuries?? What are you gonna do? Live on talent? Uhhhhhh. Again......poor KC. A really decent guy whom everyone loves.....deserves so much better. Good luck Brett. It chaps my ass to hear imaginary Engineering problems being used as the scapegoat for incompetence.

I think you will find that just like plane crashes, the cause the majority of the time is pilot error and mechanical failures attribute to less than 20% of crashes.
Yet 99% of the mistakes on radio are credited to engineering/technical.

My wish is that every time management or talent screws up the radio, a pre-recorded message would play " sorry folks for the problem/mistake/dead air , I had my [EDIT]and wasn't paying attention "
