105.3 -- what's going on?

A little after 10pm, I checked in to 105.3 to see what's up, and I was surprised to hear a bunch of DJ's (sounds more like a college radio show). They're playing a bunch of reggae/hip-hop music and identifying as "Party Hits 105.3". Haven't seen any other comments about this -- I AM listening to the TMO station, which I thought was "FM Channel 105", right???

In the TMO tradition of 'After Dark' and 'After Hours' format tweaks, TMO seems to have introduced Party After Hours, featuring what some MIGHT call harder hitting 'party' music including dance, rap, reggae and hip-hop.

Add this to Channel 105's Sunday morning brokered programming and FM Channelcasting or not, its still the same ol' TMO.

Re: It's Party 'After Hours'

Anything you hear as far as DJ's goes, usally sunday and monday nights, is just a bunch of idoits with enough money to pay TMO for the time slot. Always a big problem with TMO they sell their air to people who have no idea what they are doing and wouldn't know good radio if it slapped them in the face.

Thanks for the info., and while I'd agree with your assessment of the "DJ's" that I tolerated for all of about 20 minutes last night, I'm hoping you're not including the talented DJ's from WLIR and Party 105 -- I thought at least most of them did a good job!

The kids sounded like "kids",that was the problem;they also behaved like 'kids' instead of people in the radio business, another major problem for them. When Vic The Latino was there,it was a different, and much more professional, story.

Re: It's Party 'After Hours'

I wish I could pay to host a dance mixshow on Party (Hits) 105. I miss Party 105-3's old format.<P ID="signature">______________

Just goes to show...TMO didn't care to spend the money anymore. Cheaper to get someone who wants to break in versus getting a quality talent.

According to their rate card you could but an hour during the overnight for $25.00.

No I'm not talking about the DJ's that got a paycheck from TMO(Dre,Nikki,Astra,Seany O,and the list that can go on) I'm talking about the "DJ's" that pay TMO to let them air a show. That usally consists of "Yo yo yo I want to shout out my boys"blha blah" and my boys "blah blah" and aren't I'm awesome this show is awesome its big its so big, BLAH BLAH BLAH", I loved how most of these shows thought, and a few still think they are the best Radio people in the world, yet I've heard better college radio.
