105.3 WJSJ returns with CBS Sports

105.3 is dark no more. It's now "CBS Radio Sports 105.3." There's the established 1010XL and SportsRadio 930 in the market and so now Jax has 3 sports stations. There's been so many formats on 105.3 over the years. Maybe this will finally bring stability. I mentioned classic country in the other post. They did it before there and it quickly ended. There's syndicated Classic Country. I'm thinking there's more demand for that than a 3rd sports station. We'll have to see how this turns out.

CBS Sports Radio is a good product, so content shouldn't be a problem. The challenge is with the signal and targeting an already over-saturated Jacksonville radio market.

Two sports stations seem enough for any market. Perfect example is New York with WFAN and semi local ESPN. Los Angeles has four. Miami-Fort Lauderdale has four, counting 640 which booms in. There really is no need for another sports station in Jacksonville. How small can you slice the pie? I'm sure the ratings for 105.3 will be abysmal, but I guess it really doesn't matter.
