105.3 WJSJ...

This may be a short term stunt, as the 11am hour is track-for-track the same as the 2am hour from earlier this morning.

(If so, this is a bit reminiscent of the multi-stage transition from Big 106.5 to The Promise, which included a couple days of top 40 "Power 106," a 90 minute loop of currents with sardonic sweepers such as, "If you're a woman age 18-34, this is YOUR station!")
 
I have been told there is a technical glitch going on at the station and its getting fixed. Another thing to go hmmm on.
 
Seriously, how does this make the news? Station has no listeners, no signal and now no format.
 
The same 80's loop is back, and it's been playing since the weekend. Andy mentioned on the air back in November that the "technical glitch" actually involved cash. Not sure if that's the same story this time.
 
Oooo-kayyyy...Just flipped back (to see if the 80's music had been updated!) and heard Andy say he is looking to condense all the progressive talk into a 4 hour block each day, and the listeners need to start telling the sponsors that Andy Johnson sent 'em.

He says they have excellent ratings, and have beat "AM 600, AM 970, AM 1050, AM 1220, AM 1320, AM 1460, AM 1530, AM 1600, and many of the FM stations," and if the owner wants to keep interrupting his programming, he'll just have to find another station.

I must also say, from listening over the weekend, that the signal is abysmal compared to what it used to be in the Groovin' Oldies/Mix 105 days. Is it running at less than 100% to save money?

I miss Stephanie Miller! I can't listen to music in the car because I drive fast and get tickets so this, sports talk and NPR are what I listen(ed) to in the car. Gee..80s music. How original. If they are just filling airtime and waiting for a buyer they could at least play indie rock, americana, AAA, adult alt instrumentals or something!

Exactly! Remember that when 92.7 was for sale (and sold rather quickly compared to some), Clear Channel--er, Aloha--put on a gospel format that beat the pants off WZAZ for the brief time it was around. So there's no rule saying you CAN'T do something unique with a station in limbo. I guess it's more a matter of seeing whether or not Andy can resume 24/7 in the very near future, and betting on his side, judging from the thought and effort going into this "filler."
 
Without getting political in any way, progressive talk historically has had a very difficult time paying the bills. It could be argued that a difference in philosophy exists when progressive content seeks funding from private enterprise. Most business people won't support content that they disagree with. The philosophies are basically in opposition much of the time, so funding is always going to be hard to acquire for that format. I have a good friend that tried the same idea on an Orlando AM station about 5 years ago and nearly lost his shirt playing Air America for about a year. They have been making money with the station playing oldies since then.
