105.5 Easthampton, MA will be WEEI simulcast

It was announced on WEEI today that Entercom has purchased the still being built 105.5 in Easthampton, MA. It will simulcast WEEI, just like 103.7 in Westerly/Providence, RI and 1440 in Worcester. Maybe the new calls will be WVEI-FM.

Will the WBEC intellectual property still move to another Berkshire station when the transfer takes place on June 1? I believe that was the plan when 105.5 received its CP.

That's too bad. I was hoping for something new and interesting on that signal.

Absolute waste. They should have bought 640AM

Well, I dunno. 640AM would be the logical choice you'd think

However, with an FM they have full time coverage in Springfield and Providence/Westerly unlike they have with 1440 outside of worcester of WEEI-AM......... im wondering if sports could move to fm

however, in this case i think 640 wouldvreally een the betetr choice since most of the time, it has better coverage then 105.5 will

now all they need is a hartford signal.. hello WPOP?

In case anyone else is interested, the Springfield Republican (at http://www.masslive.com/business/republican/index.ssf?/base/business-0/1140165891251720.xml&coll=1) stated that the WBEC intellectual property will in fact be moving to 95.9 (currently WUPE). Presumably, the "Whoopie" oldies currently simulcast on WMNB and WUPE will continue on WMNB.
