105.5 WDBY & WDBY1

Thought it was kinda weird that WDBY 105.5 has 2 transmitters within 15 miles of each other Wouldn't this just add a lot of static to the signal in Danbury? Call me crazy but i also notice that 105.5 isn't as strong as it use to be in the Fishkill - East Fishkill area i pretty much lose the signal climbing Stormville Mountain on I-84

You really can't take those coverage maps as gospel. It is a good approximation. WDBY does not have the coverage represented on those maps (especially down to the south and east). Their signal was touch and go in Danbury before the booster. Their tx is in Patterson, NY and is on the other side of a hill from Danbury (which is the city they try and serve). The booster has helped to fill things in a bit. I don't think anything has changed out to the west.

WDBY hasn't been listenable in the Poughkeepsie area since around the time their new transmitter was lit up. I think they decreased the power of their legacy transmitter in Patterson to eliminate interference in Danbury.

IMO this station out shined much of the crap on the dial in the HV area.

Re: 105.5 WDBY & WDBY1

I know this topic is old, but in looking at the other WDBY thread, I came upon this one.

To say WDBY-FM, the main drecreased their power really shows how little you know about boosters and such engineering...... if you hear static and signals fighting with each other, it simply means the booster isn't exactly RIGHT ON frequency with the main transmitter, being even 1 or 2mhz off can create a big mess.

Re: 105.5 WDBY & WDBY1

Why doesn't WDBY just get a translator in Danbury? Is it because the dial is fulled there from the NYC, Hartford, and Long Island stations?

Re: 105.5 WDBY & WDBY1

Why get a translator, on another frequency that would be limited to 250W,when you can have a booster.. on the same channel and have more then 1KW on it?
