i was searching stations when my radio stopped on 105.5. the station was silent but seemed strong. Is this new? my radio has never stopped there before. i'll use it for my fm transmitter until a station pops up.

There's really nothing new on that frequency, except for a CP for an EMF translator in Millington. I hadn't heard about that coming on yet, but, here in Germantown, I may not hear it.

I tend to get Water Valley most of the time, and occasionally, Selmer. So, I can't say what you heard without some format information. But here's the list of what's out there:

KBOA 105.5 FM 84.3 mi. 354° Piggott, AR Nostalgia
KWAK 105.5 FM 95.8 mi. 241° Stuttgart, AR Oldies
WAKQ 105.5 FM 121.8 mi. 048° Paris, TN Top-40
WNLA 105.5 FM 119.7 mi. 199° Indianola, MS Adult Contemporary
WTNM 105.5 FM 63.9 mi. 168° Water Valley, MS Talk
WVNA 105.5 FM 131.7 mi. 103° Muscle Shoals, AL Classic Rock
WXOQ 105.5 FM 73.7 mi. 084° Selmer, TN Country

Hope this helps.

Let us know what you find out... maybe it was A pirate who's compute rlocked up on him! lol

105.5 is a. talk radio station out of Jackson MS i think .. I listen to it all the time . the signal is strong until you get on the north side of senatobia

Choices are:
Selmer TN (WXOQ @ 6,000 watts, 76 mi. from center of Memphis);
Water Valley MS (WTNM @ 4700 watts, 56 mi.); or
Piggott AR (KBOA @ 6,000 watts, 91 mi.).

It just depends where you are in relation to them.

The test signal from W288BJ is only 38 watts, but if you're in Millington, it could be strong and clear.

EMF is the company that owns Christian AC network K-Love. Could this mean the possibility of Christian Hit format Air 1 finally coming to Memphis?

K-LOVE's translator in Brownsville recently went on at 101.7 though, and it could turn out that the translator at 105.5 will be for K-LOVE as well. In looking at Recnet, the primary station for 105.5 listed is KKLV 94.7. Is there a chance that could be changed to be a translator for KJBR in Marked Tree, AR, which is the closest Air 1 station to Memphis? The CP expires on 4-9-07, so hopefully there will be something on there soon.

I recently found out that EMF applied for the call letters of WRRI for the CP at Brownsville at 88.3. Since they already have the translator for K-LOVE at 101.7, I'm hoping that this will turn out to be an Air 1 station. But they will only be 500 watts, so it won't go too far.
