105 . 5

So,
purerock [ dot ] us
I'm not sure how safe this website
or who owns it _ but that is what
105.5 is using for programming.

Okay,
so.. the website is very real time
with music. Current song is actually playing, last ten and the preview for the
next 3.

however, the website itself reminds me of Grand theft Auto_ or how how i met your mother did in-universe websites;
Enough info to appear as legit, but not enough to pass the eye test by a corporate suit..

I am also wondering if the website is created JUST for this ( local ) broadcaster
or, if the station owner(s) are simply rebroadcasting some one else's ip
( intellectual property )
ie: I'm streaming online but just playing the pop2k channel from ×M-Radio.

yes, I am aware that's against the rules
as I'm certain that's not the only rule being broken,

I don't see any licensed station, translator or LPFM on 105.5 in the Buffalo MSA. Is this a pirate or a station from out of market?

105.5 where?

PureRock.us is a webcaster that's been around for at least a decade. Their site is legit. In need of a redesign, but legit.

105.5 where?
Maybe a pirate using PureRock as their audio source. Or, even, a neighbor putting PureRock on a tiny little transmitter to cover their house... and catching neighbors as well.

I think I need a VPN? When I visit PureRock.US (on the Canadian side)
The first line of Text is this:
"
  • GEDDY LEE: 'I Plan To Get Together With ALEX LIFESON, And We Plan To Write Some Songs'
In a new interview with CTV Morning Live, Geddy Lee was asked about the possibility of working with his former RUSH bandmate Alex Lifeson again. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "If I say anything about working with Alex, people run to the conclusion that RUSH is starting up again.... Read more »

I'm thinking, if I use a VPN it will talk about Geddy Lee's visit to Good Morning America or something?
    OR
  • Is it actually reading the same thing on the American side?

I'm curious about translators. Aren't they supposed to "fill in" signal within the service contour of the primary station? It appears that at least some translators in Buffalo add service to areas well outside of the primary station's service area. For example, 93.3 in Cheektowaga, 94.9 in Bowmansville, and 97.5 in Corfu seem to be well outside even the fringe area or translator interference complaint zone of the signal contour of their primary station, WZXV that's licensed to Palmyra, NY. They also have translators on 102.9 in Batavia and 107.3 in Attica which are at least closer to the primary service area.

Non-commercial stations like WZXV are allowed to have translators beyond their primary contours, so the daisy chaining they do is legal.

WZXV has similar daisy chains down to Ithaca and east to Syracuse.

Thank you, Scott. I have to say that it seems like an idea that might want to be revisited when you consider how crowded the broadcast band has become.

I picked up 97.5 at my son's middle school while waiting in the car.
Stopped on the scan _ and that was the 14150 / Tonawanda area

it was religious _ but didn't
connect the dots to
94.9 / 93.3 .....

can WZXV ( and all the "250 watt" translators ) be sold as a commercial station ???

Yes - but not as a network. If WZXV goes commercial, the commercial translator rules apply, which means it can only have fill-in translators within its 60 dBu contour around Rochester. The translators could be sold to other entities and could rebroadcast other stations.

Cool _ thank you for the info
