105.7 Going Oldies....No more sports

A source with 105.7/1090 is spreading the rumor that 105.7 will go oldies very soon(hopefully English oldies), so if CBS wants something to put on 103.7 they had better hurry. And where is XX moving to? They have to move out of their studio building.

RIght--I think XX was top 3 in billing in the market last year. Nice try.

Canada. Why not? All the other rumors are just swilling around and around.

1090 will continue sports, but they will seperate the simulcast. It is a brilliant move to beat CBS to the punch, and to make more money for themselves. But forget billing how much was their collections ? and how much were their expenses? The Padres and Ted Leitner are not free, and definately not cheap!

too bad krth 101 cant simulcast.that is a true oldies station.if i want oldies i tune in to krth 101 in los angeles.

If BCa or XX goes to music it ill be on one of their soon to be acquired stations

There are no stations for sale in SD. The insurance folks took their stations off the market indefinitely, due to depressed prices and the economy..

Actually 1240 KSON Am is up for sale you get half a tower and a junk yard underneath, oh and an FCC license, but I think the junk yard is the real asset

there are always stations for sale for the right price. KPRI would sell, and lincoln financial will definitely sell. It is difficult to operate with a for sale sign over your head, and so the insurance company did the right thing, until somebody steps up with the right offer. The deal got close to being done, but private equity companies are very hesitant right now, and are very disciplined buyers.

How much did KPRI's value increase with the transmitter move from San Marcos to Mount Soledad?

$2.31

the real value of the KPRI move will be based on how well they convert the increased coverage to ratings, and revenues, and then cash flow. The highest prices are based on cash flow multiples, and not stick value. Of course it should only help, but they were already asking for more before the move, than what would be the stick value, of the new tower location.

We need an oldies station, so I hope that unlike CBS, John Lynch has the forsite to change 105.7 over. But they will have to spend some real money on jingles and some good oldies jocks. There are a couple of guys in that building that would do a great job of programming that station. Hey Rich Brother Robbin is available and he would kick ass! Just about anyone that was involved in programming KCBQ would kick ass!

And for 102.1 I'm sure with the signal upgrade that there is probably a FOR SALE sign on the door of the building. That company has never owned a station as long as they have 102.1.....They were waiting for the big payoff. John Lynch should buy it. KPRI great call letters for an oldies station, and leave 105.7 to the sports.

Well that sucks. I live in Palm Springs and (strangely) the 105.7 signal booms up here, allowing me to hear the Padres. 1090 only booms in late at night under the best conditions. Since we are technically in DodgerLand (gag) we can't get any Padre TV broadcasts (unless they are playing the Dodgers or Angels). And I don't think the Padres even have a radio network. Arggh. I don't want to buy XM or mlb.com.

Ok, I've tried not to post here (since I don't live in San Diego at the moment) but this one requires an exception:
I have a real problem with this whole subject. The ONLY person spreading this rumor (for now) is the original poster who actually wrote the subject "105.7 Going Oldies..." with such resolution, I thought it was fact. Really? What source? What about 1090’s signal gaps? What about the name “XX (Double X) Sports?”

FACT: This is the ONLY place I've seen this talked about. I'm not saying it won't happen, but as a certain other person would say, it sounds like BS (and not a Balanced Story).
Sorry, I’m just saying…

Garrett, you are correct. I have searched within the San Diego market and found no other sources to support this alleged format change - it's painfully obvious this rumor was started by someone who perhaps just needs some extra attention. Stop That!

HUH its nice to be right after people kept calling me a liar and saying I was wrong !!! The damn thing did go OLDIES!
