105.7 Improved Audio

What was already the least colored audio EQ on an FM in this market,(Walrus) blew me away last night with even
better audio. Spent a couple hours in the car, doing a comparo. According to Mason this A.M. they have a new
studio. I believe it. Except for a few butchered song files, this is tied with 102.5 for cleanest audio title. No comment on the music selection...

102.5 FM is licensed in Tijuana. I wonder what they're up to.

Least colored audio?? You mean that someone's kids didn't use crayons on the Optimod?? Sorry but you are incorrect the highs are highly compressed the lows have no depth. GET A NEW RADIO! AND SOME DECENT HEADPHONES!!! Try comparing it to KEARTH it doesn't sound good at all in comparison.

With thru-hole components making repairs easier, linear supplies and beefy rails, this board will probably be around longer than the present "owners".

Love Pacific Recorders and Eng. Corp's gear. Our 2 BMX-14's at KDES and KPSI will be around long after I am gone.

The station I part-time at still has the Radiomixers. PR&E made bulletproof stuff.

Having run the boards in many stations over 2 markets, the PR&E boards are THE BEST that I have every put fingers on. They always work, and always work well.

There is no doubt that the PR&E BMX 3, AMX and ABX are the finest radio broadcast consoles ever made. The Radiomixer and Productionmixers were good too, but they were a cheaper built product and used VCA's instead of transformers, and the VCA's are very difficult to get because they were made by Aphex.

Today the audio on Walrus got better, there is actually high frequency and some bass to it now.

The AGC seems to be fighting itself and is bringing the noise floor up in less than 3 seconds. Can't say thats not aggressive processing. But it is sounding better but needs help on the high mids.
