http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/locate?select=city&city=York&state=PA&band=Both&is_lic=Y&is_cp=Y&is_fl=Y&is_fx=Y&is_fb=Y&format=&dx=2&radius=&freq=&sort=freq&sid=

whats up With that?

York PA, Has a 105.7 (The X) And so does a town in maryland 40 miles away, this means The X can only go about 20 miles south. And This Is Still In It's Local Range where it will be cut off and the 2 stations will interfere with eachother.

is this technically allowed?

From York PA on Radio-Locator, It Says for The X "Very Strong Signal" and marylands 105.7 "Very Weak Signal"

But as stated above, the other 105.7 is only 40 miles away, and the maryland station, can reach york PA (according to the map), when really, it cant even reach all of its local coverage range, and neither can The X, because of how close they are to eachother.

WHFS is in Baltimore, and WQXA is in York. They are short spaced, but the fact that eah has its transmitter to the "far" side of the markete helps. Transmitter to transmitter is about 70 miles.

Same thing holds true with 101.1 and 100.3 in Philadelphia/NY . You can't listen to either station when you are between either city. Another fine mess that the FCC got us into!

Is this a screw up on the part of the FCC or have FM tuners continue to "advance" at a time where the airwaves become more increasingly cluttered? We have a few frequencies in New England that are pretty close spaced and sometimes it's interesting to see at what point the "battle" is just about equal.
