105.7 The Earth Spartenburg

Actually, it's going to be a Spartanburg station and signal, definitely, not Greenville or even Greenville County - 105.7 is totally dead in every part of Greenville County I tried to receive it in...

910 comes in somewhat in Greenville, but isn't extremely strong

that is interesting. i tried to pick the translator up today in northern greenville county and all i could hear was a bad signal from the eagle in augusta. i made the assumption that the translator had not been turned on yet. i guess i was wrong.

Guess that depends on how you look at Chuck FM. It's variety hits, but has kind of leaned classic hits (still occasionally hear a somewhat newer song from the 90s or early 00s perhaps).

Either way, I guess this probably won't impact Chuck at all since the range of each signal is pretty much limited to Greenville (Chuck) and Spartanburg (The Earth).

Kind of a strange name. Almost would expect something like an rootsy adult alternative station with that name. Of course, The Planet is a horrible name as well since it hardly represents the whole "Planet" of new rock.

I'll be curious tomorrow to see if I can pick it up at all (mainly drive in and around the Woodruff Road / Five Forks area).

This is good news for Spartanburg and fans of 103.3 Spin FM.
Now hopefully Davidson can make Spin FM 24/7 or at least more than 12 hours a day lol.
and maybe Bill Drake can also move there too.

It's new FM signal is going to be at 910's current AM site a few miles NW of town.
60 dbu signal should cover most of Spartanburg.

That's what I got too. I'm understanding they went to the full 250 watts the other day so I assume this is as good as it is going to get. I did catch a blip of the Spartanburg signal in Simpsonville but The Eagle had an almost solid signal. Regardless of when it starts, I think the FM signal is on.

The Earth will be a 24/7 station. Bill Drake would interfere with Love and Hudson. I caught the K-EARTH copy as well.

Chuck FM plays a few "random" songs, but much of it is 70s and 80s classic hits. They are certainly one of the most "classic" variety hits stations I have ever heard. It certainly fills a void in the Greenville area. I'm not really a 60s fan so when I want to hear something older I enjoy what they play.

Nope. Hadn't heard of them, but guess I should have.

The coverage is strictly Spartanburg. As of Friday night the signal is much improved here in Spartanburg. Since it is 6 or 7 miles from the center of town, it's not as good as 97.1 (1400's translator), but should be good enough. At my house, it is on par with 107.3. Since the switch, I haven't been able to null it and get Augusta like I could from the WOLT site.

I wish them the best and plan to check it out tomorrow.

Just flipped it on about an hour ago. First song: "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around." Significance: none (or is it?)...just happened to be playing when switched to Earth FM studio. And, now the stream is alive as well. EARTH FM lives on the Tune in app in the am section at 910 as well as can be streamed from the soon-to-be-redone www.woli-am.com website. Love and Hudson will be on at 6am tomorrow morning!

The signal is on I just checked "105.7 Earth FM"

They announced "Love & Hudson" starting tomorrow
and before that they were playing "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon.

Signal is pretty weak at my location here between Cowpens & Gaffney but I can hear it
without much difficulty. Eagle in Augusta will likely cause lots of interference during tropo.

In Fact, Eagle is trying to interfere now with my reception,
I gotta move the antenna to find the best signal.

I guess the signal is in a good location in the sense that its strongest area is where Chuck FM becomes weaker.

I actually get 97.1 from Spartanburg on occasion, but most of the time I get The River from Atlanta on that frequency. Eagle 105.7 from Augusta has a VERY good signal - IMO, the best in that market. Definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Best of luck to all involved with The Earth.

Seems to be as good station, very similar to the one down in Woodruff (Q95.9 WQUL),
I heard them play "Call Me" by Blondie a few minutes ago,
but lots of the songs they are playing are from the 60s and 70s
(even Shout from the Isley Brothers which is 1950s lol).

I'd like to see them move just a bit closer to downtown Spartanburg so that they cover most of
the city somewhat evenly, those in Roebuck & Moore are gonna have a harder time listening in.

Even 104.1 (Hangar Radio Z) at 47 watts covers the entire city good from Downtown.

I remember when they first signed on. It meant "we rock your world".

An even stranger name is "The Dam" in Florence. I'm not aware of any major dam there. They just claim to play Dam Good Rock. Now in Lake Junaluska, near the WQNS tower, this would be more logical.

Lee Alexander is going to be on this station as well. Spoke with him briefly and I think they're going to try and do some transmitter work to increase range in the upstate. We shall see, lets hope because this is a nice sounding station. Finally some 60's back on the air.

I got some static on 105.7 while driving a few nights ago near Spartanburg Regional hospital,
which is about 2 miles NORTH of downtown Spartanburg, 5 miles SE from the FM translator site.

On I-85 I was getting a solid signal between exits 66 & 78, after that it fades out rather quickly.

I'm 15 miles away from the signal source just east of Cowpens, and it's quite difficult,
well so is 97.1 but that's because of 96.9 in Charlotte.

I was scanning across the AM dial yesterday while I was passing through Rock Hill on I-77. I was surprised when my radio stopped on 910 AM and I heard "Funkytown" by Lipps Inc. I expected sports or talk so I listened until I heard it was a simulcast of 105.7, "The Earth."

The 910 AM signal was surprisingly good!

I tried the signal out this past week and got 910 decently-to-well in most of Greenville. 105.7 I got a few blips of, but I don't think it'll have any listeners in at least 95% of Greenville County.

BTW, I didn't start this thread. Not sure why it has my name by it.

author violated the tos and i guess since you had the next post you became the author. or maybe his mobile device locked up while trying to post and listen to the earth at the same time

I was listening yesterday up here in Charlotte, NC and could receive the signal! I listened from I=277 to I=77 S and down into Fort Mill and then Rock Hill. Signal was great here in this part of Charlotte, but, obviously, even better in Fort Mill and towards Rock Hill. I also think my AM Tuner in my Red Car is much better than in my Silver Car. Still, great to hear some refreshing music on the Radio.. Steve... 8)
