105.7 the Party in Owensboro, KY

I can't believe they replaced 105.7 the party with a crappy classic hits format (CJ 1057)!!! "The Party" was such a great top-40 station in the Owensboro area, and I thought it was better than Hot 96 (OWB. / Evansville). It probably did pretty good in the ratings against Hot 96 and 106.1 Kiss FM in Evansville!
Well, I guess the station owner thought 3 top-40 stations in the tri-state was too many, so he replaced it with a classic hits format (after all, 107.1 Jack FM in Evansville can't reach Owensboro very well). The transmitter was also moved closer to Daviess County (OWB.) I just think they should have kept it as The party.
 
It's hard to discuss ratings since Owensboro is no longer an Arbitron market. All we see here is a taste thanks to the Evansville TSA but "The Party" received a few mentions. In all honesty, there was a hole in Owensboro since 96 no longer visits after South Central took over. But the owners of 105.7 market all of the stations together and any efforts on the streets are among six other stations.

Regarding 107.1, their signal in Owensboro is gangbuster though 105.7 since they moved the tower is better today.

The Party was a great CHR though with STO and Kiss, not sure a third CHR was really necessary in the area.
 
You might check the wayback machine for the Cromwell Group's website. The Party was introduced in the mid nineties first in Nashville on 102.5. It was franchised across the company. From the name you'd assume a upbeat CHR but instead a mainstream CHR was what you got.

Oh yes, I remember 102.5 The Party in Nashville. That was streaming online - boy talk about a station that overplayed songs - that one took 1st place!
 
I worked for Cromwell when they launched The Party. On paper a upbeat/rhythmic CHR was a good idea in Nashville. It would be between 92Q and The River. I talked to the owner about the new station and told him a niche between the two stations was great idea. He corrected me and said, "we're going after The River". It was no budget vs a budget so I knew who was going to win. It was weird to hear liners about "The Party" going into an upbeat wonder like "Brick" by Ben Folds Five. Nothing says "Party" like that song.
