105.7 The Point

I'm not sure about their ratings and have only been in the area for a few months so someone chime in on this one is more familiar.

105.7 The Point considers itself alternative, however, at best, I would consider it an Active Rock/Alternative Rock hybrid. Would it benefit The Point at all to focus more in the Alternative or Active rock direction? Alternative is not Metallica or Vollbeat but Active is not Of Monsters and Men and Phoenix.

With all this being said, 105.7 is leaving out a lot of amazing alternative and active rock artist. Has The Point ever been a one direction station or has it always been a hybrid and would be benefit them to go in a particular direction?

For as long as I've been checking out the station (about 3 years or so), it has always had an Active lean, though it has moved into more of an Alternative direction.
Their ratings are ok, though they were better a few years ago, but I'd really like to see how their demos have held up.

After checking out it's playlist again, it's probably the most Active-heavy Alternative station around.

Well it's actually more alternative than it is active but never gets too far into the alternative or active rock. So I'm assuming you think they should stick with their current hybrid or lean further one direction or another?

The Point has had the Active Rock lean since about 2000 when Emmis bought the station from Sinclair; The station was straight ahead Alternative under Sinclair, and local River City Broadcasting who started the format way back in 1993. The switch to a hybrid came when Emmis acquired the station and decided to blow up short lived Active Rock station WXTM "Extreme Radio 104.1," and move Howard Stern to the more powerful 105.7 signal, as it was deemed there was too much overlap between the two formats, and 104.1 at that time suffered from a signal that did not cover the entire metro area.
