I even heard 95.5 The Beat getting down a bit... but sometimes they tend to play out the entire 6 minutes of an extended edit of every song in their mix sets. That would never work on the west coast, or at least here in Phoenix, especially live from a club. I told someone about the entire 5 to 6 minute extends being used all the way through and they thought I was lying and said "then they were not really broadcasting live from the club - it was taped.." There was a time when almost all mixes were like that. Now it's all chopped and cut songs for people with short attention spans.
Dying to see what 105.7 mixes will be like. Prerecorded promo service premix cd's, or live DJ's? It will be interesting. Whatever they do, then really need to find a GOOD dj who can mix and mash up all the types of stuff they play, along with the remixes to them. It will be old school, pop, booty bass, house, r&b, hip hop, some alternative, disco, and stuff all in one set, if it's done anything like how KMVA does their stuff, and I'll just say KMVA sounds damn good on Sat nights, now that they found a proper dj who doesn't just turn down the drum beats of one song and throw a house beat on top of it with a bunch of off sounds on the looped instrumental! Good luck with 105.7. I know mix shows are becoming old fashioned and people are less interested in them nowadays, but hopefully they can live on in rhythmic, top 40, urbans...etc of all types. Our adult ac was mixing it up tonight! They actually got as "hard" as Star*94 on their regular playlist!
Anyone in Atl using Skillz - "Year end wrap up" song this year?
