105.9 The Planet

Looks like 105.9 has flipped to rock... "The Planet" If I'm not mistaken, wasn't that the same moniker of it's previous (albeit brief) iteration when 105.9 first signed on the air? The imaging reminds me a lot of 104.1 in N'awlins.

^^^ Amazing how the ever-evolving Jammin' format lasted nearly 11 years.  IIRC, the 105.9 frequency set up shop in August 1998 and ran the alt rock "Planet" for approx 3 months, before permanently "Jammin" around Thanksgiving of that year.   Anyone think this is a temporary flip to rock?

EDIT: Ooops.... Stunting?

What time did the flip occur? It's been so long since I've listened to them that the last thing that I remember about 105.9 was the nightly switch to Hip-Hop. Were they still doing that before they changed formats?

I believe it was just this morning. Until now, Jammin' was playing an 80s-90s-00s adult rhythmic format... with Hip Hop overnights and weekends.

Update: As of 9:00am, it is now "105-9 The Beat" The "Planet" segued into a stunting mix of ABBA, country music and Obama "change" soundbites, during the 8 o'clock hour. Is hip hop the permanent format? I guess time will tell. You never know these days.

Doesn't clear channel still own them? Hip hop would be a good move. Hot 93 is horrible. I wish someone would take it on. But I bet spanish will be the format.

they are really gonna keep Ryan Seacreast? lol, that seems weird for a hip hop station
