105.9 translator in Greenville

Whats up with the 105.9 translator in Greenville that ESPN Upstate moved to 97.7 from back in January? It's still retransmitting ESPN Upstate and there aren't really any signal issues with 97.1 in that area, especially since it's in mono. Entercom is holding on to it for something, obviously, but I don't see why they haven't done something else with it. This signal could help fill in where 96.3 starts to have issues.

I think 105.9 is rebroadcasting 106.3 WYRD right now. And 96.3, The Block, is also on 104.5 for Spartanburg.

I thought I heard WYRD but I thought maybe they were just providing news/weather or something for ESPN. So they're feeding from WSPA-HD2. Odd, because there are no coverage issues for 106.3 in those areas. Must just be a placeholder.

The Block is on 104.5 yes, but in Greenville County they start to have issues on 96.3 around the Woodruff Rd area and south of it down 385. Mauldin and Simpsonville are issues as well. Their signal carries, but it has static issues in those areas compared to other translators. 99.5, 97.7 and 96.9 are much more solid. A trimulcast would get a bit messy, but it would certainly give them extra coverage and they've been doing well. 96.3 has a CP that's going to make it very directional with a tiny height increase but I don't see how it's going to benefit the signal. I bet they would get massive numbers if Entercom would put The Block on 93.3.

Lite 96.9 is a powerhouse which is surprising as the pattern is weird. I have carried them all the way to where 385 runs out at 26, 40-50 miles from the antenna. None of the other translators go that far.

I wish Entercom would put Bob and Sherry on one of their Greenville stations since WLNK now has interference issues in Greenville County and is no longer clear in the car. Since they now own the rights and Bob and Sheri is nationally syndicated. And looks like they could find a better use for 105.9, since WORD has several stations already, as well as ESPN.

I used to get 96.9 Kat Country from Charlotte on my home radio before Lite 96.9 signed on. No more. And they also messed up 102.9-WLKO and there is bad mutual interference in Spartanburg. And when you enter Gaston County and the Charlotte area, you can no longer get B-93.7 or My102.5 due to translator stations. I just don't understand why they seemed determined to eliminate regional market reception for these full power stations. What about radio fans who always enjoyed both local and distant reception? Very disappointing.
