In terms of audience demand and need for yet another all sports station (when almost every North American market, including New York, only really supports one station in the format well)...isn't this an answer to a question that no one is asking?

Don't think Rogers has much to worry about...

Last time round' when 1050 became Team 1050 they only brought in a POINT 8 share, but this time it's a new owner (Bell) and perhaps deeper pockets than the previous CHUM group.

During baseball season Fan 590 has nothing to worry about, but with other sports, there may be something more shaking things up.

1050 snatched up the Argos contract, and might be getting the Leaf games.
I'm not sure what the deal is with Raptors though.
 
Speaking strictly from a listener's standpoint, I welcome having yet another sports choice. I'm hoping they pick up some syndicated US sports shows as part of their programming, The Jim Rome Show in particular.

Odd enough, no one was listening to Jim Rome during the Team days, but I can only guess this time round things might be different.

I'M more impressed with the fact that Fan 590 is live and local overnight while 1050 is airing ESPN Radio.
Fan 590 used to air ESPN radio, but lost the rights to it.

I'm glad 590 isn't airing (Fox) Sporting news radio or "best of" programming from earlier in the day.

Looks like there will be an interesting fight between the two stations more so than the team 1050 days.
