1050 ESPN's Greg Buttle Breaks Down Obamacare

Did anyone hear WABC this Sunday between 4-6 PM? Boy, when they say "Sunday Special," they mean it. I heard a male and female host - the female sounded like Leslie Gold (a.k.a. "The Radio Chick") so I stayed tuned past the commercial break just to find out who these people are. As it turns out, the hosts for this show were former Fox News personality E.D. Hill and Greg Buttle. Yes, that Greg Buttle. The former New York Jets player Greg Buttle, who co-hosts Jets pre- and post-game on sister station 1050 ESPN. How in the world did he land this gig? My assumption is that whoever Hill's original co-host was going to be for this show had bailed, and they asked Buttle to fill in.

Look, maybe Buttle does have strong opinions about politics, but as long as he is serving primarily as a sports radio personality, he should not be moonlighting as a Sean Hannity clone, under any circumstances. It would be almost like, say, Mike Lupica commenting on the Tea Party movement -- oh, wait a minute, he has!

Ever hear WEEI Boston's Dennis & Callahan? Right-wingers to the core, and they mix political and social commentary with sports often. Is this really all that unusual, or all that wrong, for sports talk radio, which is strong in male, blue-collar demographics?
