1050 History

Hey Guys:

I also found some interesting history on 1050 as well. It was not always KBLE.

1. Signed on 1948 as KRKL

2. 1953 became KNBX

3. In 1963 it beacme KNBK

4. Became KBLE in 1964 probably that same time 93.3 signed on in 1964.

All owned by Ostrander-Wilson Inc (George A. Wilson)Since Dec 1949

Question for you guys: Would anybody know any formats for these stations??

I don't know if anybody knows this so I just thought I would share my info with you all.

Thanks

T.J.

OK, here's how I will answer

1, Religion
2. Religion
3. Religion
4. Religion

It seems like in every illustration I have ever heard of 1050 kHz in Seattle or another, 1050 was ALWAYS religious in one form or another. I do not go back farther than 1974 in MOST cases. But this is one where EVERYONE I have a talked with seems UNANIMOUS. 1050 kHz was ALWAYS RELIGIOUS. And nothing else.

There was always the rumor KUBE 93.3 would eventually buy out it's former AM sister station on AM 1050. Shame, but it never happened. ("Classic KUBE") PRE-Gangsta Rap? I'd be all FOR it...........

And like I said before, I am 1000% open to correction. My job HERE us to report the best facts I know OF.

Feel free to kick my ass......

Back in 1963 or 1964 they had a country show on KBLE AM. The dj, his name escapes me, was on the air from a window studio at the Warehouse of Music at 421 Pike St. I didn't listen to country so I don't know if this was a full-time format.
